I've actually taken a break from home brewing (the last 5 months), my VV is used for storage of odds and ends (stoppers, airlocks, tubing). Even when not used as a fermenter, it's nice to have it as a storage system.
Sometimes I'll cook up an extra 4 gallons of wort, and seal it in a corny.
I can't imagine what it would be like having to can all of it ... serious work
2.5lb Aluminum CO2 tank. Bought brand new from kegconnection and filled only once (currently empty).
The tank was hydro'd a little less than a year ago and is still valid. I'm selling this b/c I got a 20lb tank. SOLD

Were any of you guys able to do this without making a mess? It took me a few tries to cap on the foam w/o getting beer foam down the bottle. I had to wash the outsides of my bottles.
I thought the same thing until I bought a keg with 1 post that would not budge. I ended up buying a socket and cutting slots to fit the pins.
Now that I have the tool (socket+ratchet) - it is way less cumbersome to take these things on and off. Even with a monkey wrench you would have to...

You're right. It is overrated. But unfortunately it's the only real standard of competency we have to judge by... Unless you have your own set of skills that are profitable, we just have to play the game.
