Did you Make your Wort Chiller, or Did You Buy One?

Made my own. The previous tenant was a handyman or something and left 100 feet of 5/8 inch copper soft copper tubing. I bought a tube bender tool and it works like charm. The copper alone sold for over $80 @ home depot. I had enough left over to make a second chiller which I place in ice...

    Pineapple pilsner flavor. Fermintation Question

Here's the story: I used a White labs pilsner yeast and pitched at 70. After fermy started I put the carboy in the fridge and let sit for 2 weeks at 50 - 55. I then gave the carboy a swirl or two and brought the temp up to 70 for about 36 hours. Fermentation started again and a new krausen...

    Multiple yeast types per batch

I've pretty much resigned myself to never brewing the exact same beer twice. Just too many variables for me to control. I haven't even really given it that much effort either. Besides, who was it that sang: "If memories were all I brewed, I'd rather drive a truck...but it's all right now..."

    Multiple yeast types per batch

My neighbor and I were going to brew a Paulaner Heffy (extract w/ grains) clone from a recipe, but he accidently purchased regular light pale malt instead of wheat malt. The brew store was closed and we had already started the process. This was one of our first beers and didn't know if the...

    Multiple yeast types per batch

I brewed a beer with an Wyeast English Ale yeast and a Wyeast Wheat Yeast. It had a distinct flavor, not bad, kinda liked it. Anybody else here tried mixing yeast types in single batches and what were the results? What were the best combinations?

    Racism in a bottle! OMG!

As you can see by all the posts racism has become widely institutionalized and tolerated. In some situations it's called marketing, in others it's profiling, and others still it’s just plain racism. Why is it Ok for conglomerates to target consumers based on ethnic stereotypes but law...

    Racism in a bottle! OMG!

It can be percieved as racism because of the following definition (Wikipedia): Racial prejudice refers to pre-formed opinions about individuals based on their perceived racial heritage. It involves generalizing about members of a group based on the perceived characteristics of one or more...

    Racism in a bottle! OMG!

What's next? Watermelon Malt Liquor? MILWAUKEE -- Miller Brewing Company said it would introduce a beer flavored with lime and salt in Latino areas, including San Diego, next month. Miller Chill, modeled after a popular style of Mexican beer called a chelada, will be test-marketed...

    What's your ride?

Actually, it was in the middle of the run on the second day through the park (Kings Canyon National Park). Zaino polish, stuff works wonders. This one was taken on the first day (Sequoia National Park):

    What's your ride?

It limits me to only brewing 5 gallon batches.

    5 gallon batch only yields 3.5 gal/Problems?

I think I have an 8 gallon kettle. Won't there be some dilution if I use a recipe for 5 gallons using 6.25? Wouldn't the flavor etc be altered or is there no real difference?
