    Thinking about 120v BIAB setup

I just brewed a couple of days ago and was thinking the same thing. The hardest part of BIAB is keeping my mash temp consistant. I love BIAB, easy, great efficiency, and easy clean up. If I could solve the mash temp consistancy I would be so thrilled.

    Drilling an unported Better Bottle

Just keep an eye open for the start of cracks around the port. I ported 5 gal water bottles, they all developed cracks after about 3 uses. Hopefully BB's are heavier gauge and wont do that.

    Who Brewed beer for Christmas!?

Did a Imperial Oatmeal Stout and a Chimay Gran Cru Clone. The Chimay clone is fantastic! The Stout needs more aging.

No Sparge Brew In A Bag Disaster

Definately use a bigger pot and one bag that fits that pot loosely. Meaning that the bag needs to be fit around the top of the pot,and that it touches the inside walls, not merely floating like a hop sack. BIAB needs sufficient volume to work properly. I regularly get in the 80+ efficiency range...

    Tin foil in the carboy

First, I'm assuming you are actually talking about aluminum foil. My first thought was that it will slowly dissolve in the beer. I have had pinholes develop on aluminum foil placed on top of acidic foods. However, I have seen beer fermented in aluminum fermenters, with no visual signs of...

Do I have problem with corny?

I have had 2 liquid qd's that were defective. The hole going out to the line was not properly formed during manufacturing. Try a new disconnect.

What specs for my dual coil chiller?

Do you have fittings for a ball valve or thermometer. If you do, just make sure it is small enough to fit past them. Or flatten the bottom coils where they come in contact. I built a dual coil about six months ago. Best thing I ever did. It is affectionately called the "whore" on club brew days.

    BIAB - cold water sparging

The last BIAB brew I did was a club brew a someone elses house. Did a cold water sparge and got 86% efficiency. So, my opinion would be yes you can. Actually this was the highest efficiency I have had to date, so now I have to decide if I want to continue to do cold sparges.

    Corny Air Trap

I run a gas disconnect with a blow off tube connected to a Burton Unit for the heavy krausen then after heavy ferm has died down I switch to this. This method allows me to then attach liquid disconnects and push CO2 through a filter to my brite tank/serving corny. If I disconnect the gas poppet...

    Corny Air Trap

Sorry, I posted a picture, but I guess I am the only one that can see it. It is in my gallery. I will try and figure out how to make it so everyone can see it.

    Corny Air Trap

Thought I would share an easy corny gas disconnect air trap. Purchased a PEX fitting. Removed the center scew top on the gas disconnect, cut that part down to just below the threads. (this allows the disconnect to still operate properly.) Teflon taped the PEX fitting. Screw it into the gas...
