    Can I save my cider?

Thanks to all who have given me advice. I think we will be enjoying a mix of mulled cider and apple cider pound cake this Christmas with the non-dregs I am able to salvage. Cheers

    Can I save my cider?

So I bought a gallon of fresh unpasteurized cider and added a packet of dry yeast. Absolutely no activity. So I added some sugar and repitched more yeast. Even more no activity. Then I read the cider ingredients (should have done this first) and saw that they add potassium sorbate to maintain...

    Brew-in-a-Bag Brew Kettle Opinions?

This is what I am getting once I sell off my keggles: Bayou Classic 62 Quart pot w/ steamer basket http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FTEQBK/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 For big grain bills the steamer basket will provide more support for hauling out the grain bag, IMHO

    Free Grolsch bottles, Seattle Craigslist

be wary about this. I responded to a craigslist ad in the DC area about free grolsch bottles. After a few emails back and forth, I received this: Hey, I'm really, really sorry... the other person actually replied back, and it seems her first email ended up in my spam mail and I must have...

    Cutting my kegs.

I cut mine with a friend's plasma cutter. If you do not have a friend with one, nor do you have any of the tools or a local welder, I'd ask you car mechanic if he has one. Takes less than a minute to cut the top off one.

I assume you bought at Baugher's? So sorry to hear. Have you been out to Distillery Lane Ciderworks yet? I went last fall and made a Kingston Black hard cider.

    Odd question about turkey

At the grocery store you can almost always get icing buckets from the bakery section for free. Get a very large food grade plastic bag and put your turkey, brine and any other aromatics in the bag. Tie it up tightly, cover with ice, and put the lid on. If it is cold enough, you can leave...

Market research for a new potential product

Just did a quick search and found these drum liners: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23606&clickid=redirect Manufactured for 6.5 gallon buckets :$1.11, all the way up to 55 gallon drums.

Market research for a new potential product

I really like this idea. I offer a few suggestions: - Manufacture the bags in various sizes that fit over the most widely used fermentation buckets used by homebrewers, ie 6.5 gallon ale pale, 10 gallon brute, etc. - Would there be a way to add a spigot to the bottom of the bag? Either in...

    Pepsi Throwback. Anyone try it?

Start looking at the ingredients of Coke and Pepsi right around Passover. Coke puts yellow caps on theirs, no idea about Pepsi. These "Kosher for Passover" sodas temporarily replace the corn syrup with cane sugar. Look for them in places with larger Jewish populations. But stock up, they only...

I Want to Start Smoking Pipe Tobacco

I used to work at Georgetown Tobacco in DC, and here are a few small bits of advice: Get someone to teach you the proper way to pack the pipe. Stuffing it in, and trying to light it will most likely only lead to frustration. Simple rule of thumb we used at the store is the first pinch should...
