Dark Mild Mild Mannered Ale (AG) (E) UK/US

I brewed this up a few weeks ago. I completely missed gravity, getting an OG of only 1.030 (I discovered afterwards that a screw was loose on my grain mill and the gap widened as I was milling). On top of that, my FG finished at 1.012 (maybe mashed a little too high?). So ABV is only 2.4%...

La Fin du Monde - Triple-style Golden Ale

Is there a quantity for the hops? 1oz for each addition?

    Ordinary Bitter Pride of Raubsville

Yeah, I figured it would be something along those lines. I'm pretty sure the local shop has s04, so I think I'll give that a try. I know they have Windsor, so I'll use that as a back up. Thanks for the reply!

    Ordinary Bitter Pride of Raubsville

Hey Bob, I'm looking forward to making this on the weekend. A question about yeast: Is S-04 much different than Nottingham? I've heard they are similar and I've got a few packs of Nottingham on hand so I was thinking of using that. Though I see you recommend using Windsor, so maybe...

    Help Identifying Off Flavour

I made a batch of Edwort's Haus Pale Ale and I've got an off flavour I'm having trouble identifying. Background info: I made a half batch(10.5L) and hit the both the OG and FG on the nose (70% efficiency, BIAB method). Lag time was short, followed by a vigorous fermentation. Fermented in a...

    Longer Wine Kit Fermentation Times

Hey Guys, I've started my second wine kit and am about to rack to secondary tomorrow. Since I already have my first kit bottled, I've got a bit of extra patience and was wondering if there was any benefit to leaving the wine on the primary or secondary longer? Off the top of my head, I...

Blonde Ale Simple Blonde Ale (Extract)

I made this beer and I'm currently drinking what's left over from my bottling bucket and what spilled from the bottling wand. It's delicious!

Can you add more wort after pitching yeast?

Thanks for the idea Gr8shandini. That's a really good one. I think I'll stick with my original plan for this brew since its the first time I'm doing an all grain batch. I don't want to try to many new things at once. I'll definately give the high gravity thing a try on my next batch though.

Can you add more wort after pitching yeast?

I think I am going to go with option 3. To me it makes sense to let the yeast grow in the small batch and then add more. I can't see why it wouldn't work. Plus, this way I can brew two days this weekend instead of one! I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Can you add more wort after pitching yeast?

I will be trying out my first all grain batch later this week using the brew in a bag method. Since I only have a 5 gallon pot, I am planning on splitting the recipe in half and doing two 2.5 gallon boils. I was wondering the best way to combine the batches into one. Here are the options I...

Could you hack a Brehouse Wheat kit to make a White Beer?

Sweet, thanks everyone for the advice. How much orange peel and coriander would you recommend? And when should they be added? I was thinking after the primary fermentation was done.

Could you hack a Brehouse Wheat kit to make a White Beer?

I really like white beers like Hoegaarden and Rickard's White. Is it possible to make something similar using a Brewhouse Kit as a base? I know white beers are wheat beers, but I think the Brewhouse Wheat is a different type of Wheat ale (clear and crisp as opposed to cloudy and...

Overprimed, are bottle bombs a legitimate worry?

Nothing on the bag, but I just measured it with a food scale and it is around 8oz.

Overprimed, are bottle bombs a legitimate worry?

Using this widget, a conversion factor for dextrose of 0.6g/ml and a volume of 23L I'm getting a C02 volume of 3.4 Is that better? What C02 volumes do standard 12oz bottles break at?
