    High Gravity BIAB

I did a 16% RIS a couple years ago. About 3% of that was sugar additions during fermentation though. Same as others I split my 30lb grain bill between two mashes. Mashed the second in the first. Got 85% mash efficiency on the first and 60% on the second.

    10gallon Kettle vs Keggle?

Why would the keggle be too large? No problem with having some extra room. I do 5 gal batches all the time in my keggle

    Tips on kegerator setup

+1. Get 10 ft of beer line for each and trim down from there if needed. That'll save you a lot of the foam hassle

    Craft beer in Florida?

I've been to the BJs in Daytona. They have decent beers. Nothing insanely good but ok for a brewpub

    Nottingham good to 14% ABV.

I pitched 2 packs into 6 gal but I did 5 1 lb sugar additions to mine so I think that helped the east get hat high too

    Craft beer in Florida?

Swamphead, 7th sun and of course cigar city Also since you're in Orlando you should definitely hit up redlight redlight. Hands down the best beer bar in the state

    Nottingham good to 14% ABV.

I agree. Notty is a beast. I took my barleywine to 16.4% fermenting it around 62

What's the Highest ABV Beer You've Brewed?

Notty got me 16.4% on my barleywine. Was shooting for 18 but I'll take it.

Rubber plug fell into the carboy

I once dropped the rusty bit of my screwdriver in my keggle while chilling. It was in there for about 45 minutes until I transferred to the carboy. It all worked out ok. The yeast will kill anything that gets in RDWHAHB

92% mash efficiency. Is it possible

Yeah I usually get 90% mash conversion when I mill my own grains. It's possible. You just have to be awesome todo it

What's mash-out in BIAB and what is it for? Do we need it at all?

Not that I know of. I think that 85% you see is the assumed extraction from Palmer's tables that he considers achievable/good. Obviously more is better. I think the high water to grain mash ratio helps with my efficiency.

What's mash-out in BIAB and what is it for? Do we need it at all?

I get around 90% mash efficiency with my corona mill to. My qt/lb ratio is around 2.3 for about a 1.060 beer

    Brewing big beers via BIAB...

Yep mash your second half of grain right in the same wort. I mashed out to 170F the second mash but not the first. I also held back 2 gal of water to sparge each mash with 1 gal.

Its easier than you think. If you're already calculating your mash temp for single mash its the same calculation. Just use temp of the new grain and your first mash temp as initial temp. I have no fancy setup and was close. Just fired up the gas for a couple minutes to get a couple more degrees.

    Brewing big beers via BIAB...

I did a 1.163 Barleywine about a month ago. I evenly split the 31.5# grain and double mashed at 75 min per mash. With just the grain I got to 1.114. First mash I got my normal 90% conversion efficiency. Second mash I got 73%. Then I added some LME at the end of the boil and 5# sugar into the...
