    Fermentation Blow off Conditions

Hi guys....had a interesting thing happen during the fermentation of this AG batch I'm doing. I've read about guys having fermentation's that need a blow off tube. After about 15 or 20 batches, I don't think I've ever been in that situation before. I'm not sure if it is because of the...

Cost of all-grain brewing vs MrBeer vs buying beer at the store

Everyone here brings good points regarding making beer vs purchasing. If you want to save money and like beer you probably need to buy it. You may save a few dollars making beer but it is not substantial. The more important thing is you can make beer that fits your taste. You can make a...

People talk about "caramelizing" during a boil, is this even possible?

Might have to go BIAB for tomorrow's brew due to grain bill size

Once i've started the mash, i wrap a sleeping bag around the pot and put a blanket over the top. Temperature holds very well.

    Can Muslin bags be reused?

I reuse these as well as the bags for BIAB. I turn them inside out and rinse. Wife throws them in the laundry and washes them with the whites. no problems that I've seen.

Brewing beer when it is 33 degrees in the garage...

Fortunately I have a stove in my basement to do my BIAB. I have to do the boils outside though as the stove top doesn't have the BTU's to get 6.5 gallons to a rolling boil otherwise it would be all in the basement.

    Name your shortest fermented beer!

I had one finish fermenting in 3 days as most others have seen but I have a IPA going now and it was at a rolling boil during ferment for the first 5 days but the next 4 it is burping the airlock about once every half hour or so. It was using a liquid yeast that had both ale and lager strains...
