Mapping beer in the 50 states

Ah right, I should have mentioned that. I got the data from beermapping.com. Users can add places under the categories breweries, beer bars, beer stores, homebrew stores, or brewpubs. Since it's all user-generated data, it's definitely not complete.

Mapping beer in the 50 states

I made a map/visualization of beer places in the 50 states of the US, and considering the topic of HBT I thought some people here might get a kick out of it. Enjoy! :) Edit: I collected this data a few years ago from beermapping.com, which has a user-generated database, so this doesn't reflect...

    Blueberry ale question

When I made a blueberry ale I didn't strain anything, I was just careful not to syphon the blueberries or trub. I think all of my blueberries eventually fell to the bottom before I racked the beer.

Dark Mild Mild Mannered Ale (AG) (E) UK/US

I forgot to mention that I used US-05 for version 2.

Dark Mild Mild Mannered Ale (AG) (E) UK/US

I was inspired to try making a dark English mild after tasting Yards Brewing Company's Brawler. I didn't necessarily want to clone it, but I wanted something pretty similar. To that end, I settled on Mild Mannered Ale. I'm not a fan of strong roasty flavors, so I made two versions of the recipe...

    How long to lager for??

I don't have a lot of lager experience, but on the few occasions I've done lagers I've noticed a big difference with a few extra weeks cold conditioning. The beer went from kind of bad to pretty good. That said, if you’re kegging the beer I guess you could cold condition it in the keg...

    Ginger Ale (kegged)

I've made this 3 times, and I'm carbing up my 4th batch now. If I recall, I usually went with 2.5 cups of ginger for a 2 gallon batch, and that was about right. This time I used slightly less than 4 cups for a 4 gallon batch, and I'm worried it will be a little weak. Regardless, this is great...

    Beers in Destin FL

I second McGuire's. I had fun there on a business trip. Agreed that their brew wasn't special, but it was a nice place to have a good steak and a few drinks.

    How much do you brew??

I think I'm averaging one 2.5 gallon batch every month or so. Sometimes more often, and sometimes I go through a 3 month dry spell.

    MD/DC grain

In case you prefer to know this before I arrive for pick up: I'm also interested in some PBW, carapils, and melanoiden. I'm happy to help unload, but the soonest I could get to Takoma Park from Arlington after work on Fri would be 5pm. Let me know if you want me to come by then, but it sounds...

    MD/DC grain

I might be too late for the current order, but I'd like to jump on the group-buy bandwagon! :) Please put me down for: 1 bag BZ-PILS 1 bag BD-PALE

    Failed Blonde / Pale Ale

I had a similar problem with a beer. It was kegged, so I poured half a gallon into a pot, added half a gallon of water, and boiled on my stove with another 1/4 ounces of hops. I haven't tried it after carbonating again, but the cold, flat sample was much improved.

    Apfelweizen!

Hey hey, I was just thinking about doing the same thing a few weeks ago! I haven't executed it yet, but I was planning something a little different. I wanted to keep the hops low and only use bittering hops so they won't interfere too much with the apple aroma and flavor. I was also thinking...

    Weissbier Paulaner-style Hefe Weizen

I brewed this one up, but only used 3068 instead of both yeasts. I was well pleased, and I'm planning to brew it again. Thanks for sharing!
