Wroxbrew's 20 gallon stout tank build

Edit: oops, moving this to a new thread instead. Great system you have there!

Stonebrewer, you might also look at your grain mill. Perhaps tweaking your crush could help with grain getting through?

Oops! Sorry about 4. Thanks for the detailed response. Fur completeness: 4. Is tangential inlet for a whirlpool worthwhile, or just more cleanup?

Wroxbrew's 20 gallon stout tank build

Thanks very much for posting this. I'm looking a similar build and I had a few questions. 1. Any further thoughts/regrets? 2. Can you comfortably brew a 5 gallon batch? 3. What do you use for your recirculation setup? 5. Thoughts about RIMS in this arrangement? 6. How long does it take to...

Slowly building a arduino controlled electric brewery

This looks great! I'm looking at putting together something similar, but considering using a BeagleBone to open up some more options for programming. I'm pretty near you; perhaps we could get together to chat?

Help Deciding what what Hardware I want to learn (Arduino or RPi)

Also consider the BeagleBone Black. It's much more powerful than the RPi, has more IO, but less video capability.

    Best Book for Weird ingredients

Radical Brewing is my favorite brewing book, and it covers everything from the canonical style to the truly weird. It's also just a fun read, and includes a lot of history and background. Just make sure you check the errata before brewing anything. http://www.radicalbrewing.com/rberrat.html

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Update on mine. Despite terrible efficiency from my grain, it turned out OK. At first, it was a bit thin and too bitter (likely due to the lack of malt balance), but it has come together over the past month or so. Definitely much better over time. The cascade hops turned out fine. Looking...

    Orlando area water

I have used Orlando tap water through the filter on my refrigerator with no issue. I have been meaning to send it out to one of those mail-order labs, but given the scale it leaves on everything I'm going with hard water. At least here in the Baldwin Park area.

    Grain Mill

I have no dog in this fight, but Randy Moser's truly excellent Radical Brewing recommends avoiding corona mills in favor of rollers. He acknowledges that some people get great results with them, but notes that for most the roller mills get better results.

Yeah, I know I need to take the measurements. I'll post an update about how it turns out

Fermentation temp at 32c or 89f. Any concern?

Pick a style that likes warm weather. I live in Florida, and I have been working on the same problem, although I think my temps here are just a bit cooler. Saision is a good choice, and I'm looking for other styles. Obviously avoid lagers.

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Fired this up yesterday as my first all grain batch. I forgot to take a starting gravity (again), but here's to hoping it comes out half as good as the original. At least it was fun. Based on some of the feedback I'm going to dry hop with 1.5oz, but reading some of these more recent posts it...
