    New Stainless Diptube From Bobby_M

You suck ... though you are only 3 hours up the road so a mugging is a realistic possibility. :) Was looking at his sight-glass/thermometer the other day ... apparently my calibrated stick isn't as accurate as I hoped. Only kegged up 4ish gallons on the last batch.

About to begin my first brew

This has me concerned/curious ... your specialty grains weren't crushed when you ordered your kit? 1. I tend to agree with NOT adding the ice to the wort so you can reach the full 5+ gallons. Distilled is best, but if you have to ... try using (in order) bottled, filtered (fridge)...

About to begin my first brew

First off, RDWHAHomeBrrrr ... wait, this is your 1st batch ... scratch that. OK, I gotta agree with gavball6. A glass is prolly not gonna work (depends on the glass though). Sanitize the hydrometer and place it in your fermenting bucket that you are sanitizing everything in. I would also...

    Hi from Ausitn

Hey Dan, Welcome to the forums ... it's good to meet another local brewer. The amount of information you will find here is just mind blowing. If you can't find it with the search button (which would shock me), just ask. If you are anxious to try other beers, definitely check out the recipe...

How long is a starter good for?

My story is a bit on the extreme side but it appears to have worked out fine: Picked up the ingredients for a Fireman's 4 clone to brew last October. Got my 2 liter starter up and running and all was good. Threw it in the garage fridge because I couldn't brew the following week nor the week...

    Yeast Storing

The vials I use for my 'bank' are: http://cynmar.com/SearchByKeyword?word=115-27908 In regards to using prescription vial/bottles, my first concern would be proper sanitation. You're storing such a small amount of yeast, chances for contamination are greatly increased. Another question would...
