    Check your Brewhaulers!

+1. I own that certificate, as well. My 2nd batch rolled out of my hauler. I found myself covered in 5 gallons of wort and picked shards of glass out of my feet and shins for a week. Not a happy camper. :smack: I had to pull up the carpet and throw it away as well. That was the most...

    Inconsistent head

zzARzz, Yep, he is pouring into a glass. I told him about the concern with soap/rinsing agent residue. He has seen the same issue after hand rinsing his pint glasses. Concerning my methods, I use PBW. No detergent soap or rinse agents in my resused bottles, carboys, etc. I also go an...

    Inconsistent head

Thanks RM-MN, I did boil the priming sugar, let it cool, then poured it in the bottling bucket. I racked the beer from the fermentor on top of the priming solution. I haven't used the method you described, mainly due to the concern of adding oxygen to the brew before it is bottled. My...

    Inconsistent head

    First Lager brew

Good point......Went back downstairs, checked the fridge. I can smell the yeast. It appears maybe the airlock is not as tight as it could be. I put a zip-tie around it, but I shouldn't smell the yeast in the fridge.....correct?

    First Lager brew

I am trying my first lager brew. Pitched yeast at 52 degrees. 2 liter starter was at the same temp. (appeared helathy) First couple of days, slow bubbling. After that nothing. Krausen present. Should it stop bubbling? Did I not pitch enough yeast.... I know it is supposed to bubble...

Krausen at the end of fermentation

Does the krausen fall into the brew at the end of fermentation or will it always be at the top of the carboy?

When to transfer to a secondary

Yep, I am a newbie. First batch in the primary. I intend to rack to a secondary. Brewing a Beligium Wit. WLP400 yeast. Did not use a starter. (won't do that again) No action seen in the airlock at all, but from reading previous posts, that should not be a concern. Brew has been in primary...
