I’m located in Northern CT.
Finishing up brewing a Winter warmer and I wanted to throw some vanilla beans in during fermentation.
How should the vanilla be prepared? How long should I leave them in?
Did a 5 gal. Red Hook ESB clone today and my gravity was off, should have been a 1.52 and I ended up with 1.42, so how bad is this?
I'm guessing that I was sparging too fast as the next 5 gal batch I did everything was spot on and I went slower with the sparging.
Anyhow am I going to have to...
I've noticed in my last couple of batches that I consistenly get a higher gravity than the recipe calls for, gravity is measured right after I pitch the yeast.
I just did a 10 gal batch on Mon and instead of getting a 1.46 I got a 1.52.
Is this something that I should be concerned about?
I'm wondering if it is just me, seems like every time I go I'm having to substitute something be it grain or yeast are there any alternatives in the Enfield area?
