    Keg [Apparently] Failing to Carbonate

Thanks for the feedback, gents. I had already driven myself mad submerging every connection on the keg and looking for bubbles. After failing to find a leak anywhere, I thought more of it and posted the above. After a day of watching it drop and topping it off to 10 psi again, it finally...

    Keg [Apparently] Failing to Carbonate

david_42, Your comment that the head pressure applied to seal the keg will drop as it dissolves into solution makes sense. The CO2 is seeking equilibrium at that temperature and pressure. Anyone have experience with the time scale on which this happens? Is it hours, days, weeks? In other...

Bottling from taps - Perlick owners

Update: I got this in the mail and used the "hose connected to racking tube with rubber stopper" arrangement so you effectively end up filling under counterpressure. Works like a charm! I'm filling into growlers with minimal foam, no noticable loss of carbonation and using normal serving...

    Keg [Apparently] Failing to Carbonate

So, I've double checked my sugar (1/3 cup for a 5 gallon keg batch, which has worked for me in the past and I believe is standard), I realized my apparent attenuation is quite high. This is an American Pale that had an OG of 1.050 and FG 1.006 for an attenuation of 88%. I used Wyeast 1056...

    Keg [Apparently] Failing to Carbonate

Thanks for the reply. It's the same amount of priming sugar I've used successfully in the past, so it's a bit of a mystery to me. I have a feeling I'll be force carbing this time around!

    Keg [Apparently] Failing to Carbonate

Hey folks, So, after doing both force carb and natural carb on my kegs, I've decided I like natural carb better (there are endless threads on this, I know, but just my preference). To better monitor when it's complete, I bought a bleeder valve with a pressure gauge on it that attaches to the...

    Drilling holes in a kettle

I'll throw my vote in for the step-drill (if you haven't already drilled the holes). I drilled 6 holes in my HLT, Mash Tun and Kettle with a step drill bit and it went through amazingly well and left very round holes. the other thing to be aware of is drilling holes in thin wall (relative...

    Food dehydrators and hop drying

With the ~95F food dehydrator method, about how long does it take to dry them?

    Dryhopping in a Carbed keg?

I've actually done this as well. It didn't foam like crazy, but the mesh bag floated without me tying it off to anything. I chalked it up to enough CO2 precipitating on the hops that they wouldn't sink, but there was no bubbling over or anything crazy like that.

Bottling from taps - Perlick owners

This looks awesome. I've been staring at the threads on my Perlick spout thinking "there has to be a way to thread something onto that so I can fill growlers". I just ordered one and hope this solves my "bottling from the keg" woes.
