WLP001/California Ale and Primary Ferment Temp

If it's already underway you probably can't do too much to help the flavor profile now. You will have good beer, but (in my opinion) this strain really shines when fermented in the lower sixtys.

    What to brew next??

I'm a huge fan of something simple like... 85% 2-Row 7.5% 60L Crystal 7.5% Dark Munich For hops I love Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe, and Columbus. Go crazy with late additions for big time aroma without over the top bitterness. If you're looking for a really cool yeast that is slightly...

    What to brew next??

60 is a great temperature to do an IPA or APA, but be sure to do a diacetyl rest for 3-4 days ~70°F after fermentation. I recently took 1st out of 24 in the Wizard of Saaz in the IPA category fermenting at 60°F. That is also a perfect temperature to do a California Common or a German Alt...

    What to brew next??

I always like to work backwards based on your available fermentation temperature (assuming you don't have a temperature controlled fridge or similar). What if your ambient temperature in your fermentation location?

An Improved Method for Monitoring Mash Temperature

The thermowell's are from Brewer's Hardware. I was interested to see that there were some moments where the two probes disagreed by a considerable amount. In a more permanent installation I will use thermal conductive epoxy to fasten the sensor in the thermowell, hopefully that creates more...

An Improved Method for Monitoring Mash Temperature

I want to share my method for monitoring mash temperature more accurately and with (arguably) less hassle. I'm in the process of developing an automated HERMS brewing rig, as a preliminary step I've created a mash monitor program which I've introduced in the thread HERE. Tonight I brewed...

    Mash Monitoring Software

I'd be happy to supply the software files, but you will need a few important items on your end. DAQ Hardware (e.g. Labjack, NI Card, etc) DAQFactory Software Proper configuration between the two Let me finish up some more work on this today, and I'll post the beta version on here.

    Mash Monitoring Software

I just wanted to share my first version of my Mash Monitoring software. It has been written in DAQFactory for use with a Labjack U3-HV which I will be using to monitor/control a HERMS brewing rig. The upper left shows the mashtun with both temperature sensors (diode zenners). I also...
