What can I make with this?

Why not a Sticke Alt? Just need to grab a small quantity of crystal and black malt. I've brewed a couple extract batches like this using cascade, and I was very happy with the result. Figure the the experimentation is in the spirit of a Striche Alt anyways, so why not try some hops outside the...

    1st All Grain Disaster

I'll sanitize tomorrow, and try a fresh pull.

    1st All Grain Disaster

I used the tap water on my extract batch and the same water for the all-grain. I didn't get a water report, and I'm regretting that. I also don't have a ph meter or strips. I'll have to get one for the next batch to make sure that isn't an issue.

    1st All Grain Disaster

I used a wyeast slap pack in five gallons. It wasn't a very big beer, so I didn't bother with a starter. I watched the ferm temps, and they didn't get over 70 according to the strip thermometer on the outside. The conditions were virtually the same as the extract batch I did, and it was great...

    1st All Grain Disaster

The off-flavor is really strong, so it may not be the vinyl tube. I'm going to go silicone just in case. I didn't worry about mashout, so I just filled the tun again. Then I did a quit vorlauf and drained the tun. Should I wait longer?

    1st All Grain Disaster

I'm going to order some silicone for sure. The target temp was 154, and I hit 156. It wasn't huge, so I just cooled it with water. I used a plastic paddle to stir. I've used it on all my batches with no problems. I worked hard not to splash the mash, but I can't say it didn't aerate. I was...

    1st All Grain Disaster

It's been over a month now since I began my first all-grain batch. I have several extract batches under my belt, so I felt comfortable adding a few steps to the brewing process. First a little info about the setup. I decided to use a Northern Brewer all-grain kit (Innkeeper Ale). I had made...

    Launching BrewGeeks

Cool site. Like the BIAB walkthrough. I've just started doing all-grain (first batch today actually). Think I'll try a BIAB tomorrow.

    Keezer build

Agreed. The stainless is a nice touch. Can you post some photos of how you mounted the plate. How did you avoid tubing in the wall of the freezer? Did you remove the original thermostat?

    My Tap Handle Build

Wish I had the space for a drill press. Seems like a handy tool. Like Bennyhaha I shredded a couple of inserts with a screwdriver before I went back for the t wrench. The brass is softer than i imagined. No split wood though since I was using maple.

    My Tap Handle Build

I am currently putting together a small keezer. I haven't had time to start construction, but I really wanted to get started. Decided to start with the tap handles. Not sure what I am going to carve on the handles, but I got the blank set up with the brass insert necessary to attach it to the...

    Show Us Your Label

Thanks man. Wanted something crisp and simple. I was surprised how easy the milk made it to apply.

    Show Us Your Label

First labels I've done. Thought I would do something I could use for several different batches. Left spots to write the abv and volume. Think I'll add a spot for a brew date and a batch name on one side. Printed at office depot and applied with milk.
