ok thats what I was thinking about was how much it would foam up. I know from a similar fruit wine I made that i could fill it up and not have to worry about it in a 5gal carboy. As far as smell I clamp a hose to the top of my air locks and put the hose out the window :D I had 20gals going...

You said I think in the other post that the fermentation is fierce right? I was gonna just use a 5 gal glass carboy and fill it up. I did it with the apfelwein and there was no problem with over flow but I haven't used grape juice.
So I decided to try the same type of receipe as edworts apfelwein, but instead of just apple juice and sugar I'm gonna replace it with just straight welchs grape juice. I wanted to use the same type of yeast and add a little more sugar so that it comes out to around 14% since the grape juice...
I was gonna do something like that but I already bought and bent a copper coil. If figured if I left it in there I could just boil it clean.

Thanks that Was what I was trying to find out. I heard about passivation but I couldn't find what chemicals to use. I was gonna use CLR but Wasn't sure about how it would react with the internal parts. I found some on Amazon for 2.50 a can.

Well after figuring how how to connect it to the supply lines this is what I came up with. Its a 50' x 1/2" ID tubing, with garden hose attachments, connected with a ss washing machine lines so that its flexible.
The only thing I don't really like about it is the inner piping is pvc...
