Hey gang,
I'm thinking about trying a pumpkin spice beer for the first time.
I will be doing an extract brew and am looking for an easy first recipe. Any thoughts appreciated.
I have read on other posts that some folks prime their kegs with DME. How is this done and why?
I have a Nierra Sevada on deck to keg with a week left in the secondary and was wondering if I should try priming the keg for this one. Thoughts appreciated.
Kegged: Hefe clone...
I know, I know....
Without starting a whole thread on whether or not one should force carb homebrew to begin with, I am curious how long it should take after cranking up the PSI and gently shaking it. Are we talking a few hours, days, or weeks. :mug:
Background info: I fermented this hefe...
I just got my second corny keg in the mail recently and was about to siphon my first hefe into it from the primary; however, I realize that I need to sanatize the keg first.
I've removed the o-rings and have the replacements ready.
Can I use bleach to sanatize the keg? If so what type...
Gotch. One more question:
Is it better to leave the fermented beer in the primary with an airlock for a few weeks than to keg it immediately after fermenting?
Why would this make a difference?
Thanks. Very helpful.
So, I should siphon the beer from the primary to a secondary with an airlock and let it sit again for a few weeks before siphoning into the keg?
Does the keg not act as a secondary?
What are the down sides to using racking directly into the keg?
Many thanks.
:)
O.K. I've made a few batches now and have never (to my knowledge) used a secondary fermentor.
I normally brew the wort to recipe, pour into my plastic pail with airlock, pitch the yeast, and wait 5-7 days. After this, I siphon directly into a keg and put in the fridge for a few weeks until...
The fridge is a Sanyo (unsure of model). It has the compressor in the back with no light in the ceiling and no little freezer compartment. I think it is a good candidate for a kegarator. I'm just nervous about ruining it. Any ideas on what I should look for in terms of qualities needed for a...
Because the records indicated that I had never posted to this site before.....
I am still fairly new to this hobby but have become quickly obsessed. I am on about my eighth batch and have recently started kegging. For Christmas my beautiful wife bought me a small fridge with kegs and co2. I...
