Suggestions to improve my all grain kit, getting variations in mash temps (hot spots)

That is quite interesting! I was wondering if I was seeing the same thing but thought it was only a couple degree's out, I have been using a multimeter probe and an analogue probe as well to try get a bigger picture. I bought some new probes from DigiKey, they are much smaller than I was...

I didn't know that, that would explain why sometimes it starts OK but gets really hard to get good flow towards the end. thanks this is really helpful! :mug:

You are not wrong, in fact I have looked at that exact product, I'm halfway there, I should of probably mentioned: I just bought 2 meters of silicone to replace that most of that copper pipe (conveniently sent to me as 2x 1M lengths of Silicone, thanks Ebay) Although when I was using it the...

Suggestions to improve my all grain kit, getting variations in mash temps (hot spots)

Thanks! that's what I would of thought too, it is pretty much the basis of this design :) I have to fiddle with the valves to match the flow a bit, but generally speaking its continuous albeit quite slow, slower than I would like sometimes. interesting, I will try and mount the temperature...

Suggestions to improve my all grain kit, getting variations in mash temps (hot spots)

Hi all, what I am hoping to get is some changes in my process or suggestions for things I can change in my kit to get around the issues I am finding. So, I have been slowly building up a piece of kit for my all grain, but I am getting a high F.G. so I think it has some short comings when...

    Witbier Hoemaade Hoegaarden

I'm afraid to say this is possibly the worst beer I have ever made. I believe that I stirred up something nasty when I shook the fermenter. I expect I will try this again but unfortuantly this batch is not pleasant at all. It is quite a stark comparison to the samples I tried before while the...

    Witbier Hoemaade Hoegaarden

Hi I was brewing this but with some NZ variation on the ingredients Everything was great, I tasted the hydro samples and it was very hoegaarden'y I was quite excited. We have had a bit of a cold snap and I thought the yeast had stalled since it got stuck on 1016. still looking and tasting great...

How many things can you find wrong with this plant.

They were down the bottom of the property and I was using a mist type watering system. I have since put them on the deck (they are in large pots) and cut off all the basal foliage and they seem to be doing ok. regrowth is coming albeit a little slowly. Less bugs up there too. I am reasonably...

How many things can you find wrong with this plant.

The biological control retailers here (New Zealand) dont sell ladybugs, I did look into it. I have bought a ton of marigolds to try the 'companion planting' thing but they havent done anything. If I get enough space to build a larger crop I will possibly try the mini wasps mentioned here...

How many things can you find wrong with this plant.

Hi, I have been growing my first hops of unknown variety for a few months and things going ok except for a few issues best explained through pictures. At first I had two pests sucking on the bines. I am not sure if its the same insect at different levels of maturity or different bugs...
