    15-Minute Amarillo Ale

Glassblower, I've only done 2 of the 15 minute brews, an Amarillo and a Chinook. The only thing I can say, is to load up your beer with low AA hops. My Amarillo came out great, I got the recipe from the Basic Brewing Guys. The Chinook was an experiment b/c I had a ton of chinook in my...

    15-Minute Amarillo Ale

I tried the recipe the guys on basic brewing did and I thought I'd add my 2 cents. My history is 28 batches brewed, going full circle. Liquid Extract -> Mini Mash -> Small Batch All Grain -> Full All Grain > BIAB All Grain -> DME Extract -> 15 Minute Boils....continually experimenting and...

Single hop Simcoe idea - my first recipe

Yeah, I did an All Simcoe earlier this summer and it turned out pretty good. In the future, I'll just use the Simcoe for bittering though. I wanted to experiment with the taste and found that I like Cascade and Centennial a little better. It was an experiment that went well and was enjoyed by...

Hop Schedule Help: 3 oz Simcoe Hops and 10 lbs of Grain

So the beer is a winner. Outrageous aroma and the proper amount of bitterness. I'm glad I have 2 cases of this stuff. Thanks all for your input. It's a solid recipe and will give you a great clean beer, classic APA. Since this is my first experience with Simcoe, I'm pleased to say that it...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Others like me have probably employed a hybrid of this method - the Partial Chill. The summer temps drive the tap water higher making chilling to yeast pitching temps very difficult. I've recently used the chiller take the temps to 100F, transfer to primary, then place in temp controlled...

Hop Schedule Help: 3 oz Simcoe Hops and 10 lbs of Grain

Since I was in a rush the night I brewed, I added the hot and cold break to the fermenter. When I dry hopped the 1oz of Simcoe, I racked to secondary to separate it from the trub/break material. Of course, I tasted the beer as well and I can tell it's going to be a real good one. I'll update...

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

In retrospect, the cheapest alternative is to go to Plumbing Supply as previously recommended. All you'd need is two 3/8" compression x Female Hose thread fittings and one Male Hose Thread x Male Hose Thread. Shipping is 8% of your sale + $3.50 handling. Ultimately, cheaper than my Home...

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

Good to hear I'm not alone. Brass fittings.com as mention before is probably cheaper than the depot. Your other option is to trim off the old hose at the chiller and reattach/ reclamp the newer hose. This is the cheaper option in the short run.

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

So I went with the compression fitting. One is tight as hell, with no leaks. The other is still slightly movable, letting out on small drip every few minutes. I think I'll take that one back to the depot. Otherwise, it was pretty simple. I would have been cheaper to just use new plastic...

Thanks, missed that response. That should do it, I'll bring the chiller with me.

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

The Brass fitting looks good on the site, except, I don't see a 3/8" to 3/4 MHT???

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

Thanks Guys. As it is, it has tubing attached to the chiller, but the hose clamps are not doing their job of stopping the water from leaking into the wort. Regarding the brass compression fittings, I should be able to find these also at the Home Depot or plumbing store?

Converting a S.S. Wort Chiller to Have Hose Fittings

Greetings Brewers, I've run into some leakage problems with my stainless steel wort chiller recently. The chiller has been leaking into the kettle, causing me to reheat up the wort to kill off any bacteria that may have gotten in. I was time, gas and possibly an infection. I want to convert...

Hop Schedule Help: 3 oz Simcoe Hops and 10 lbs of Grain

It's brewing away like mad! I actually couldn't resist, I added another 1/2 oz of my garden cascade hops as well, 5 min addition. My temp controlled fridge smells outrageous!
