Thanks guys, i'll throw them in the fridge and see how that goes. Right now i have them in a container so if, god forbid, any more go boom they will be contained.
So i bottled my first batch way to early and i have lost 4 beers to over pressure (the bottles blew up) and now i am stuck with a bunch of beer that turns to foam when i pour it out of the bottle. The beer taste great but once it's opened and moved it turns to 100% foam, i have tried a few...
I live in KPN and am new to brewing. Was wondering if there any groups around my area. I would love to meet some other brewers and learn a thing or two
I wish i could have seen some photos of the mess, on my first brew i had a blow off tube hooked up and it was running into a 12 oz. cup and it overflowed in my cup and created a huge mess in my closet, was very funny to see. On the bright side the closet smells great now.
It looks fine to me. Just give it some time, even if you dont see any bubble after a few days take a gravity reading to check to see if the yeast is working.
Wow, lots of posts. First off the brew is a hopped extract kit Coopers Dark Ale. I used 3 lbs of malt extract as my sugar. I picked up a very detailed Brew journal that lets me fill in the blanks with all the information of the brew along with areas for notes.
My wife was doing some searching around on the web and kept finding herself on this site, so she signed me up then told me about the site. Im Glad she did because this place is great.
So i am looking into getting a propane burner to do my wort in because after my first batch i learned that my stove top is not up to the challenge. Looking around and doing some math i have learned a few things. I wanted to double check my math with you all and see if i am doing this right...
Hey guys i recently was asked what the ABV of my first brew was and quickly realized i had not idea if i was doing it right. So i did some searching and found a great video with a lot of information that i think new brewers should check out. If this is a repost i am sorry.
If i was reading everything right it should be about 1.6, and yeah it was very fast, i may have been because of how warm our house it, and i did not want it to sit on the yeast cake very long since this was only a 1 stage brew.
I watched some videos on using the hydrometer, and my OG is 1.021...
Right now all i have is a 5 gal carboy, on my next brew i am going to be buying a 6 gal Glass carboy for primary and a handful of other equipment that i need.
