Thanks for all the information! Now I know it's coldbreak. I always try to get as clean beer as possible from the pot but sometimes the whirlpool fails and i get some of the hop in the beer. Haven't been any problem so far but always nice to know all the different stuff that is happening in the...
The "slime" looks like liquid glue or jelly. I can get easily suck it up with a auto-siphon so its not that hard at all.
I have gotten this when using DME and now when i made a all-grain BIAB.
Hi,
After i have boiled the wort i get slime in the bottom. Is it good or bad?
I figure it is caramelised sugar or something. My pot is really old and made out of aluminium so its not top of the line. But i have made some nice beers with it. This is my 8th batch or something.
Anyone know...
It's not even close the top. Last brew I needed a blow off tube and had about 200ml of yeast in the blow off bottle. It was a repitch of us-05. This is a fresh pitch. Now after 3 days it looks like this.

Just looking at my brew from yesterday. It doesn't look at all like my other US-05 beers I have made. The Krausen on top is more like porridge then the nice and foamy. Maby this is only a stage I haven't seen or is it contaminated?

Yes it looked really nice! One day later it is not so sexy anymore. Had to add a blow off tube. Next time I reuse yeast I will not add as much as 3dl for 10liter. Maby 1-2 will be enough.

About 24 hours after pitch i took the fermenter to room temperature 23c. 6 hours later it started bubbling more frequent from the airlock so I put it back into the locker where I keep around 18-19c. Now 40 hours after pitching the reused yeast it looks really nice.

Forgot to say that I have a 2.6gallon(10liter) fermenter. I did not even think of measuring anything. Just threw in something that looked like yeast from the old fermentation vessel.

I never thought about checking how much yeast it was. Maby 3dl?. I light have gotten some of the old beer and slurry also. The OG is 1063.

It is actually my first try to reuse a us-05 yeast. This is my third extract batch so I'm new to brewing. Reusing yeast seems like a good thing when bottling and brewing on the same day. Just out of curiosity I'm trying different stuff to see what happens.
