    Harbor Freight 25% coupon

I saw this in a different forum and thought I would pass it on. http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/365901 Here is the description of the coupon from the link above: Harbor Freight, which specializes in great deals on low cost tools, takes an additional 25% off 1 item with Coupon...

Grohe faucet to garden hose thread

Yes, before I made mine, I tried one of those bathroom faucet to garden hose thread adapters from the sink in the powder room, which was the closest source other sink I had. Total failure. It would pop right off the threads when you built up any water pressure. Glad it worked out for you.

Sorry it took a while for the pics. How did your adapters work out?

Grohe faucet to garden hose thread

Oh, I see what happened to my IMG tags. I did them right, but I have not reached the required quota for image tags to work (25 --https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f22/img-tags-video-parsing-109880/). I read a LOT, but don't post too often. (Which is probably better than doing the opposite.). Well...

Grohe faucet to garden hose thread

BadWolfBrewing, sounds like the two main differences between our version are, first you got a coupling without a stop so you could slide one piece of 1/2" pipe through--a great idea. And second, you shaped the end with a Dremel. I happened to have a 15mm drill and a drill press, which was a...

Hmm. Something seems to be going wrong with my img tags??. Just for now, here are the URL's for the photos I uploaded to ImageShack. I'll try to figure out what I did wrong and edit my post above. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/812/ncyp.jpg/...

I took some photos of my version a few days ago, and meant to add them to this post. (BadWolfBrewing, I hope you got my PM with them. Hopefully they helped. It will be interesting to compare your version.) And here is a crude diagram (I gotta learn Sketchup or something).

    setting up a pump

Ah, I had it backwards, then. Thanks for clearing that up.

    setting up a pump

A question from a relative "newbie": why is there a valve on the output side? I thought the output from the pump should be unrestricted? I'm probably misunderstanding the purpose of the valve.

    Broader vs Taller kettles

I'm hoping that as long as I don't boil so vigorously that the wort or hot break material scorches, there will be no issue collecting a little extra sparge water to allow for the increased evaporation, e.g. 7 gal initial volume instead of 6.5 for a 5 gallon batch. With the SPS-60, that would...

    Broader vs Taller kettles

I think you're right. I think the Bayou Classic pot is closer in shape to a keggle, and probably has similar boiloff. if I get a chance to boil another partial mash batch, I'll use it and post the result. On the other hand, I'm waiting for fittings I ordered late last week, and when they come...

    Broader vs Taller kettles

I just got 2 new stainless steel stockpots, an Update International SPS-60 which is 18.625" dia, 14.75" high, and a Bayou Classis 62 qt pot, at 15.25 dia, 18.5 in high. So, the Bayou is taller and narrower. I planned to use the SPS-60 for a boil kettle, and the Bayou for a MLT (which I will...

Stainless, insulated, bottom draining mash tun with top

Just saw this thread. Did you guys eventually get any of these pots imported? Also, i used Google translate to display one of the German pages for the pot in English. It called them a "vacuum" pot. Is there something like foam insulation between the outer and inner skin, or is it truly a...

Grohe faucet to garden hose thread

This isn't a huge project, but it may help someone in the same situation. Our kitchen sink has a Grohe spray faucet. Totally useless for hooking up a chiller or bottle washer. (I really gotta get a utility sink!) I finally put something together that works (after trying a couple really...
