    Men who lack female supervision:

Why post pictures of things other men have done? Post pictures of your own stunts that lack female supervision or you just flat ignored anything they had to say about it... About 1997, I picked up my grandfathers 28ft pontoon boat, chained it on top of an 18ft flatbed trailer, backwards, and...

Glass Door Refrigerator Used as Fermentation Chamber

I acquired the ones I have through friends but have seen many of them listed on Craigslist. Beyond that, try cultivating friendships with convenience and liquor store owners. :tank:

    Cracked Erlenmeyer Flask

I've never heard of retiring glassware due to thermal cycling. I used to work in a lab too. The only glassware I've ever seen retired was due to chemical etching, melting or breakage due to thermal or physical shock. The microwave is kind of a question as to even heating and the potential...

    Cracked Erlenmeyer Flask

You would be much better off putting your flask in a pan of water and then heating it. Much less thermal shock to the flask and even if it all goes to crap and the flask breaks you will still have the secondary containment of the pan to catch the mess before it gets away from you.

Glass Door Refrigerator Used as Fermentation Chamber

If you want a clear, glass door, don't expect to replace it, they are in the range of $800. Beyond that, the same things as a used fridge. Is it very noisy? Is the door seal good? Does it cool? How much will I have to spend to bring it up to my expectations? (A compressor can be replaced...

Glass Door Refrigerator Used as Fermentation Chamber

Glass Door Merchandising Coolers work great for fermentation cabinets as well as their intended purpose. Here's mine with two 6.5 gallon carboys and room for 3 more. There is also two half-barrel kegs and two 1/4 barrel kegs in it. Free just for picking it up, (wouldn't cool and the door was...

burn on inside of stainless steel brewing kettle

It was already on the list of test patches. With a carbon steel brush, a stainless steel brush that had been used on mild steel and a flap wheel that had been used on mild steel. With results to be shown unpassivated compared with three different methods of passivation. This is going to...

burn on inside of stainless steel brewing kettle

These abrasives were used on stainless only. Surface roughness does have an impact on corrosion resistance and that will be demonstrated in the next series of tests. As for carbon or mild steel interacting if used on stainless, yes, if not passivated. That will be demonstrated in the next...

burn on inside of stainless steel brewing kettle

I'm using a Federal Pocket Surf. There are better tools available for the task but for this purpose it is more than sufficient. Virgin abrasives will leave a rougher surface until broken in. I elected to go with used as that is likely what most of such work will be done with. Not a jerk at...

WOW! I really thought the first post would have been a question about how the surface analysis was performed...:p
