Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

Walter, Thanks for your help. Comparing good and bad pumps, I see the white washer has either totally disintegrated or was never put on in the first place. So how do I order replacement washers? I'd like more than one because they seem thin and fragile. I have put several hours of running...

Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

Lines in and out of the pump are 1/2". And the outlet is always choked back. The fluid (wort) is not viscous. I'd like to do something short of returning the pump to fix this issue. So are we looking at possibly a worn out washer? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Pumping from kettle mash tun to boil kettle. The pump head is oriented horizontal. This also happens during whirlpool so there is plenty of wort flow into the pump. This isn't cavitation but a sudden freezing of the impeller Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

My scenario: The impeller intermittently freezes. I unplug the pump & must wait until rotor comes to a complete halt. Plug the pump back in and it works fine-for a couple of minutes then the impeller comes to a halt again and have to repeat the process. The valves feeding the pump are wide...

    CO2 stone in keg?

A hose on the gas dip tube with a stone attached works great. Never had any back flow issues. Morebeer even makes a similar setup on a keg lid! Speed carbing without the danger of over carbing is nice...

Stout faucet - what's the concept?

Nitro is forced out of suspension through a stout tap. Nitro bubbles are smaller than co2 bubbles, thus a denser creamy head. beer gas is a blend of N and co2

Attn expert dry hoppers: Please help with dry hopping grassiness

Maybe ease back on the days the hops are sitting in the beer. 8 days sounds like a long time. Ive read here and in books that all hop goodness is extracted by 3 days. I never dry hop more than 4 days.

Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

My problem at the time was with 170 water. float valves turn the pump on and off. In the middle of the process it would stop moving water. The folks at Morebeer were mystified, replacing a pump. After I told them what I did, they used the word "starving" the pump. Is this in your glossary at...

Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory!

Morebeer systems don't shield the pumps from the environment such as water splashing. I'm sure occasional drops of water make it into the vent holes of the body. Should I rig some sort of shield over the pumps? Another note: Occasional flow stoppage was messing up my brew day and Morebeer...

    Star San diluition for spray

Fermenator cleaning instructions say when spray sanitizing, use the proper dilution ratio for spraying. They don't say what that is and all I can find is the usual 1oz/5gal. I'm assuming for spraying surfaces, Blichman is hinting that it should be stronger. 5-Star website says nothing about...

    simple star-san soak?

If your using starsan, there's no need to air dry. That's the beauty of the stuff. Otherwise we'd all be using cheaper stuff like idophor which does need to be air dried. I worked at a large brewery where even idophor was wet in the bottle when put in the bottling line

    whirlpooling with a hand blender?

Whats all this about creating a vortex? You just need to get the mass of liquid moving in a circle. recirculation with a pump or a large spoon works just fine. The most important thing is after you get a good spin going. leave it alone for several minutes
