Sorghum - Is it a must use in Gluten Free?

If you add half the sorghum at flame out, you will not find the funny taste some find. I use sorghum as only half my fermentable also. Clarity Ferm will REDUCE but not eliminate the proteins which are bad for celiac sufferers. I'd never chance it.

    Sorghum vs rice syrup

My initial attempts at only using sorghum were not the best. Since then I use sorghum syrup, rice solids, AND honey with candy syrup (mostly for the color). Maltodextrin for more body also. About half the fermentables at flameout helps any potential weird flavors. It ends up being a pretty...

    Best GF brew of 2012?

    1. My standard GF recipe with sorghum and rice solids. Brewed it about once per month lately and has always been good. 2. Same as #1. Of course it's the only recipe I've brewed/shared so not like a lot of choices! 3A. Using half the fermentables at flameout makes all the difference in...

Brewing up a Gluten Free Beer this weekend- anyone else?

Cracked open a few from this batch this week. I realized too late into the process that I used the wrong yeast and I never got around to dry hopping, but it made no difference. This batch was darn tasty. It looks like beer, it tastes like beer and by golly, it is beer. In fact, I would dare...

Do you have any GF beer (commercial) recommendations?

I agree with Bards being the best. To us it was virtually impossible to discern a difference between it and a "normal" beer.

Brewing up a Gluten Free Beer this weekend- anyone else?

I finally got around to brewing another batch last night. I didn't have time to do everything I wanted to do but I still should end up with something that is quite good regardless. As I had said previously, the batch I made a few months ago was drinkable but a bit on the sweet side. After...

Brewing up a Gluten Free Beer this weekend- anyone else?

I'm on of those "new names" that has been reading and digesting whatever other's experiences have been in GF brewing. My wife was diagnosed with Celiac in the spring. We both discovered we enjoyed the taste of Bards the best but did not necessarily enjoy the cost, just as we don't enjoy...
