Can you add water after fermentation has begun?

Wouldn't there be an issue in putting that much oxygenated water into your fermented wort? I don't know how long a you would need to boil a gallon and a half of water to de-oxygenate it, but likely longer than your 5-minute flash-sterilize. If it were me I'd think about adding sooner rather...

    Hops Hops Hops

3 oz of Nugget is a fair bit of bittering for any beer. I'd double check yoiur numbers in your software though - sometimes partial boils dont calculate right. Your recipe says you're starting with a 13 qt boil, and you're gonna boil it down to 8 qts. Thats about 40% boiloff - most people...

Partial Mash (Mini Mash Tun) Question

4# is the recommended max - you can stretch a little more in there but then you have to deal with spillage and the general PITA. Check out: http://***********/component/resource/article/511-countertop-partial-mashing Though now I wish i'd gone with a 5 gallon cooler the first time around...

Err - if your barley is raised under non-certified organic settings, your malt isnt going to be organic. There's more to 'organic' ingredients than just being grown versus manufactured. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would assume the vast majority of barley is not grown under certified Organic...

    Colder Secondary?

Great- that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I should add this brew is with US-05, calling for " Recommended fermentation temperature: 15C – 24C (59-75F). " But i guess as long as the real fermentation is done before i pull it out of the bath its all good.

    Colder Secondary?

I apologize if this has been asked before- used the search... We live in a (very poorly insulated) cabin in the woods and the magic (fermenting) goes on in the basement. Ambient air temps stick around 52, likely wont be much higher till June or so. I run my primary in a 20gal rubbermaid with...

    Olympia Water

New brewer - thinking about using some of Olympia's famous artesian well water for my next IPA. Tried searching, can't seem to find any info here or through google about water quality from the well on 4th street (in the Diamond parking lot). I know the water tastes great, people stop there...
