    Missouri Brewhemoth fermentor must go!

Guys I have a brewhemoth fermenter Id like to get rid of. I live in Kansas City MO area. Bare except for 4” cap and triclamp for $500 I can hook you up with 2 butterfly valves, a thermowell, and a sprayball for a total of $600. Cash only, local pickup only and I’d really love to get rid of...

Anyone use a Tri Clamp Sight Glass on Their Fermenter?

I just used a small wrench and tightened all four bolts very slowly and evenly until the leak stopped. The glass is pretty thick and tough and the gaskets pretty thick. No problems since then but I did learn a valuable lesson: put the valve above the sight glass!

    Brew Boss Systems

Yes I'm sorry I meant the COFI filter. The bottom portion of it (that's what I meant by false-bottom) slides up and down. I was wondering if people experience grain falling out between where the bottom portion of the COFI filter meets the sides.

    Brew Boss Systems

For those of you who use a Brew-Boss I was wondering about something. How is the seal between the false bottom and the walls of the basket? Does grain ever slip out when you mash, or when you hoist the inner basket out? I would think with the "give" of the mesh that it may be a problem. Thanks

Finally got my water report. Take a look please.

Caveat: I'm certainly no expert but I do adjust my water. You could buy store water, but then you're back to square one not knowing what's in it. It probably will come from some other city water supply. Your water profile actually looks very good to me. There is no perfect water for...

May want to add some calcium chloride to get calcium up closer to 50 ppm and balance the sulfate.

    My "BIAB" brewery

The base is a hydraulic lift table from Harbor freight tools. They run 150-250 bucks. Hmmm I've never done youtube but I may consider doing some video of an upcoming brew. If I do I'll update this thread with a link.

    My "BIAB" brewery

I'm making the best beer I've ever made. To be honest its probably less about the wort making and more due to the fact that when I built this brewery I finally got serious about fermentation temp control, oxygenation, and pitching rates. My efficiency (to fermenter) is consistently in the...

    My "BIAB" brewery

@tektonjp -- you are right about the hypocrisy of less equipment, lol. :D Yeah I know this Frankenstein is totally overkill. Hey, maybe I just found a name? Overkill Brewery? Wonder if that's been taken yet. Despite what it looks like, its actually very easy to use. Anyway it's total fun...

    My "BIAB" brewery

HOW IT WORKS: My mash tun is similar to the "malt pipe" in the Braumeister, with some differences. When the mash tun is in place, it mates with the bottom of the boil kettle. Water is taken from the boil kettle (outer kettle) through a pickup tube. Water is then pumped through the center...

    My "BIAB" brewery

I wanted A pot big enough to do 10 gallon batches without fear of boiling-over. The Kettle Started out life as a 20 gallon Megapot big enough to store a child in. 1. Polished out the Megapot etching and removed the rubber handles. I hoped to etch my brewery logo on in place but still haven't...

    My "BIAB" brewery

Hi fellow brewers. I think it's way past time to post about this. I've been brewing with this rig for over a year now. I intended to do posts as I was building, but that didn't happen. This took me over a year to build, mostly DIY. Anyway I thought some might be curious as to what my...

Full volume high gravity biab limits?

First of all, reaching an OG of 1.068 on a recipe of 1.074 is actually closer to target than you think, so you did a decent job. The problem with BIAB and high gravity results from grain absorption. You can mill finely to improve your extraction, but even if you could extract 100% it won't...

A Guide to Cleaning your Grain Mill

Thanks for the write-up. I'd consider oiling with mineral oil. It's food safe and no chance of it going rancid.
