    Just gotta ask about this

I also started with this. I made one batch that physically hurt my stomach (too much carbination) and switched to extract brew with a bucket after that. The problem with the Mr. Beer setup IMHO is that it teaches you nothing. I can now guess what is in each of those cans, but they don't tell...

best way to make a starter

I did the 2 cups water with 1/2 cup DME starter over the weekend and pitched last night around 11 pm. When I got up at 3 this morning to let the dog out, I noticed that the airlock was chugging away and the krausen was almost 2 inches tall. I will always be doing starters after my last 2 brews...

    Northern Brewer: 4 cornies/$60

Well, when I ordered them last Friday, the option of 4 was not still available. But I was able to get 2 for $20 each.

    Northern Brewer: 4 cornies/$60

I'd been thinking about getting into kegging than the NB deal sealed it for me. I got my 2 used ones today adn they have a sweet smell of rootbeer in them. Now that I got the kegs purchased, all I have to do is figure out hot to use them. Like learn how to clean, fill, and dispense - the small...

    Beers on a plane.

Eh, I'd like to take some back with me, but I don't want to put a lot of effort into it. Going to USPS/UPS week before Christmas = work. In my lazy opinion. Maybe if I offer to share, the guys at the gate will let me take it in carry on, I'm sure the pilots would love some. I'm flying...

    Beers on a plane.

So, next week I'm going from Boston to N. Michigan and I'd like to take my latest batch of Wee Winter Ale with me. Has anybody taken bottled beerwith them on a plane?clearly it won't pass security in m carry on, so I was going to put in my checked baggage. I'm concerned about the presure in the...

    Transferring to secondary

So, I brewed my first batch in a couple of months a week and a half ago. The recipe is from Clone Brews and started out as the Bass clone. Since my LHBS didn't have Northdown hops, I used Northen Brewer (hey, it had "north" in the name) and I substituted WLP001 for Wyeast 1098. The directions...

    Get a brew buddy!

If anybody in the Boston area is interested in a brew buddy, let me know. I'm new to the forum but have been brewing for a whopping 9 months. I'm slowly growing my stock pile of tools (read: 2 carboys, a 2 gallon pot, auto-siphon, and various 'meters') and would be interested in helping somebody...

    Sam Adams?

Has anybody tried brewing with these grains? How did it turn out?

    Sam Adams?

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Sam Summer. I prefer it over Harpoon or even Corona on a hot day out on the deck. Incidently, does anybody know what "Grains of Paradise" are? It's on the label for the Summer, I assume it's their blend of common spices, but wasn't sure if anybody here...
