    Potassium Sorbate

Thanks for the quick response. The cider is currently cold crashing. Is it ok to add these when it's cold or should I warm it back up? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Potassium Sorbate

I apologize if this has been covered. I couldn't find an answer. I obtained five gallons of unpasteurized apple juice to make hard cider. I added five campden tablets before pitching my yeast. I'd like to add potassium sorbate to inhibit the yeast so I can back sweeten and keg the finished...

    Maine breweries to visit

Definitely Allagash. They are doing some really cool stuff there that I had no idea about before going (barrel aging, etc). There are some very small breweries across the street that aren't amazing but kind of cool and local. There is a cool place in Portland called Liquid Riot. It is a...

Maine Beer Co. "ZOE" Amber Ale Clone Attempt

Old thread, but wanted to pass along my thoughts on this. I have been in love with Zoe since my first taste. I finally made a clone, which came out amazing. I was unable to get my hands on the real thing for a while, but last night I got one and was able to do a side-by-side. I found the...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

Fair point. I don't want the yeast in the bottles. I'm planning to give these to non-homebrewers and I don't want to explain to everyone how to pour, etc. I want people to just enjoy the beer how they want to, like they would with a commercial beer. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

What I mean with respect to aging and kegging is at what stage in the process does the aging occur? I have never brewed anything with spices before. The procedure for bottling seems to be primary, maybe secondary, make tea, add tea at bottle time, age in bottles anywhere from 2 weeks to a...

Winter Seasonal Beer Holly (Christmas Ale)

Question for those who have kegged this beer - When do you do your aging? Do you just age in the kegerator? At room temp? I am planning to bottle off the keg. Could I do that and then let it age (without priming sugar)? Thanks. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Please Help!! Beer froze - now particles are floating in it

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will post back if I have anything further to add.

Please Help!! Beer froze - now particles are floating in it

My understanding was that since it got much colder than it should have it would have also absorbed more CO2 than it should have. So I let it thaw and released some pressure off the keg. It turns out I probably released a little too much but that is the least of my concerns. I have it back on...

Please Help!! Beer froze - now particles are floating in it

It was pouring pretty clear. It was just sitting and waiting to be bottled. I am going to try the gelatin and see how that does. Time is not on my side here.

Please Help!! Beer froze - now particles are floating in it

Thanks bill. I think I will try adding some gelatin tonight and see if that helps. The thing is, this beer was really nice and clear before the freezing incident. I believe I have somehow caused some proteins to become suspended. I don't understand the chemistry well enough, but that is...

Please Help!! Beer froze - now particles are floating in it

Hi all. I made a beer a while back that was to be bottled and taken to my father-in-law's 60th birthday. I fermented, cold crashed, kegged and carbed. This past week I accidentally allowed the temperature in my keezer to get way too low and the beer froze. I thawed it and degassed it and figured...

Grand Rapids IPA (Founders Centennial IPA Clone)

OP, I am in love with this beer and must attempt a clone. What was the final verdict on your recipe? Any tweaks? Looks great!!

    Stout Faucet

Is installing a stout faucet in a keezer as easy as disconnecting the regular faucet and connecting the stout faucet? By that I mean are the shanks the same? And can one use the same beverage line for the stout faucet? I am basically trying to figure out what needs to be purchased to convert...

    Temp controller in collar

Howdy folks. I've been lurking here for a while, but finally decided to post. I am about to build my Keezer. I have seen a few pics around of guys that have installed their temperature controller right in the collar. I really like this look and I am thinking of doing it for my build. The...
