    Refrigerator Freezer freezing up!!!!!!!!

Yeah, auto defrost isn't working, the problem is still going to be around no matter what thermostat you use. If it's a mechanical older model, you might need a timer, klixon, thermal fuse or heater element. If it's a more modern electronic freezer, probably a coil thermistor, thermal fuse or...

Is this a good Temp Control???

For that money you can get a digital controller. But then again I can't see any benefit of a digital over an mechanical except for you can see the current temp, dial in +-0.1 of a degree if you want, change offset if it's not calibrated. edit,: back on topic, Johnson is good, one of the...

    Flogging Molly

I love flogging molly, but I doubt I'll ever see them here :D

Does steeping too hot cause more unfermentables?

s04 has low attenuation, even on my kit beers with an OG of 1048 it only got down to 1014 in some cases. Tell me how it tastes. If it's still sweet tasting it's still going, s04 hates low temps and it could still be going. I've had s04 brews take longer than 2 weeks at 16*C If it's not...

anybody know how to fix a fridge?

Domestics don't have pressure controls. The biggest problem if it is low on refrigerant is not the type of refrigerant, but the fact that leaks are often not repairable anyway. Normally they are under insulation or aluminium pipe/ corrosion related. Not to mention that domestic systems are...

anybody know how to fix a fridge?

Sounds like you've never been lucky to hear the distinctive sound of a compressor seized and cycling on overload :D Thermal fuses are inline with the heater on frost free models, and don't cause the compressor to cycle on/off, they just stop defrosting. They're more of a problem in more...

anybody know how to fix a fridge?

Cutting out on overload. It's either a stuffed compressor, faulty overload or a bad relay since nothing that small has capacitors. Unplug the power, remove the compressor terminal cover, make sure the relay and terminals are plugged in securely. If it still doesn't work after that, the things...

    Slow fermenting lager

You have a high OG for a lager and you underpitched. You should have used 2 vials or made a starter. Because of this fermentation may take a while, but don't worry, just give it time.

Pitch dry yeast or re-order the liquid yeast?

Yeah, nottingham for high attenuation, eg dry stouts, Safale s-04 for medium english ales, s-05 for dry pale ales. Danstar (makers of nottingham) also make a munich yeast for euro lagers. It pays to keep at least one of each each handy in the fridge for when other recultured or liquid yeasts...

    smells of vinegar

Yeah, you never throw a brew. And this is me saying that and I've had a few bad brews. I still age them for a month in bottles before throwing them out, just to make sure they're unsalvageble. I bottled a brew I did a month ago, and it was so foul after a month aging I almost ditched them...

Anyone excited about the new season of Top Gear on Monday?

It's a shame there was only 6 episodes this season :( The last ep was good, it's a pity they couldn't get jay kay to beat simon cowell fairly. They took his best time, while the current format, and the one cowell had to compete under, is you get told "this is the lap that is timed officially"...

    Favorite tv openings/theme songs.

Red Dwarf and MASH! I haven't seen them or heard the themes for ages. :) MASH always felt weird to me after I saw the original movie and then started to sing along with the words to the theme.

    Favorite tv openings/theme songs.

About time someone mentioned it :D The only thing I watch on my new TV that I spent $1700 on, is the news. I hardly ever watch TV at all. Nothing is shown on aussie TV that isn't crap, or if it's good, it's a 3 year old program from US cable networks or english BBC. Most of the time...

Do I need to do a starter if I am using a wyeast smack pack

The whole point of the smack pack is to test viability. Break the nutrient pack, and if it swells up, the yeast is viable. How healthy? Who knows, it's just a packaging solution to let you know the yeast hasn't been totally nuked on the journey from Wyeast to your doorstep. But if it swells...

    Can StarSan eat through plastic?

Beaten, I was going to point that fact out :drunk: My guess is a leaking tap, be it the washer, damaged threads or tap itself. I've got a plastic tap that just leaks, despite how simple and reliable they usually are.
