    Gravity fool.

    5 gallons fresh cider, 4lbs brown sugar, Nottingham yeast. Lightly heated one gallon to dissolve sugar, mixed in carboy and added yeast. I put it in my fermentary room(closet) cleaned my mess up and sat down. Realized 30 minutes later I never took a gravity reading. Afraid I would desturb...

    @ Ginkings. Where can I go to read up on these points and gravity. I had a little mishap and broke my hydrometer. I wasnt able to take a SG. Can I figure out an approx FG even without a hydrometer reading?

    Pasteurizing Clarity please

    Made a batch of cider today with 5 gallons non pasteurized and no additives. I'm confused about the pasteurizing process in making hard cider. Do you do it initially to make it safe to drink? Do I need to put additives to kill harmful bacteria? I realize the pasteurizing for bottling concept...

    I'm fed up with bottling!

    In the middle of building a keggerator myself. Kegs- Be sure to ask around if anyone has a friend at pepsi or a beverage distributor (a 5 dollar handshake goes a long way). I've been cruising EBAY and finding a lot of good deals on kegging equip.

    First time doing cider. 5 gallons pasturized cider 2.5 cups local honey. Broke my darn Hydrometer right before primary so no reading. Transfered to secondary today got a reading 1.002 checked it again - 1.002. I have read and read all the threads/websites for this and it's pulling me 19...
