    Pulling Grain From Mash For Decoction

    I’ve never tried either but want to for my next batch. Gordon Strong has a section on it in his Brewing Better Beer book that is worth a read. The example recipe he gives for that mash technique is the one I’m going to try out. It’s a doppelbock.

    Sounds like you might have a good ER story to tell. Each has its downfall: plastic can harbor bacteria if scratched, glass can easily break, and stainless is expensive.

    Ha agreed. I started with a 5 gallon kettle and a bucket. Then a 10 gallon kettle and two buckets. Now I have a 30 gallon boil kettle, 30 gallon mash tun, 9 glass carboys, 2 20 gallon fermenters, 4 kegs.... Good thing my wife also likes beer. That being said, I enjoy the beer I brew a lot more...
