    My homemade smoker.

It is with a heavy heart that I must share that my homemade smoker finally succumbed to the elements. After more than a decade of heavy use, hundreds of pounds of meat, a trip to the lake for a luau, and a move to the new house 4 years ago, the top of the fire barrel finally collapsed during a...

    Bloody Ceasar

I made this yesterday and figure that it belongs here, as a food and drink that pairs with itself. :fro:

    Favorite Brewing Music

I usually rock the Pandora on brew day. Here's what my quickmix looks like right now: The Mountain Goats Spoon Minus the Bear Pavement Tom Waits Drive-By Truckers LMFAO Wilco Van Morrison Old Crow Medicine Show Sublime Bad Religion Aesop Rock Electric Six Miles Davis Reverend Horton Heat...

Help with Home Brew Stores in Washington

Hi there and welcome. What part of Washington will you be visiting? If you're in the South Seattle area, I highly recommend Larry's brew supply in Kent. Great people and they move a lot of product to the local breweries so the grain and hops are most always well priced and fresh. I'm in...

As I'm drinking my first Sierra Nevada Torpedo...

I was admittedly nonplussed by the Torpedo last year, but I haven't had the opportunity this year yet. I've enjoyed the Celebration for years in spite of its variations. Looking forward to trying out the Torpedo again this year. If memory serves, it tasted grassy last year and the hops didn't...

    Breakout Beer

Guinness. I was 17. That was some 11 years ago, 6 of those I've been a home brewer, and I still respect the beer a great deal to this day. I enjoy it more often than I do craft brew attempts at the dry stout style. I can drink Guinness all night long (and would if I had the means) and it...

    Answer these 3 questions immediately!

    1) Newcastle and Spaten Oktoberfest. 2) The National - All of the Wine (from the 2008 alligator LP). 3) 20 gallons of pumpkin ale. :rockin:

    adding fruit

You will probably find that the amount of fruit varies largely by type, preparation, and style of beer. It would be easier to provide sound advice if you could tell us a little bit more about the beer that you're planning to make. Some fruit you may want to avoid the stones (e.g. cherries...

    New brew idea

Don't be discouraged before trying the Hell or High Watermelon from 21st Amendment; I have not been a fan of most the commercial fruit and/or American wheat beers that I've come across, however this beer I really enjoy. A six pack disappears quickly regardless of the weather around my house. :)

    I Love Bud

Times are getting lean it seems... :o This thread is a textbook example of the "No true Scotsman" fallacy.

    Belgian Pilsner malt...straw?

Are you certain that it was straw? I sometimes find shreds from the plastic grain bag in my malt. Perhaps an attempt to bring out that 'straw' flavor you seen thrown about when reading descriptions of Flemish Ales?
