    If they are just dead hulls then, yeah, they would end up being nutrient for the live yeast. But that's a pretty warm "soup" they've been sitting in, I don't imaging they fared to well in that environment, autolysis isn't pretty.

    Seems to me like your just going to be dumping a pile of dead, and potentially decomposing yeast cells in with the newer pack, why bother?

    From my understanding of starters; after 24 hrs of fermenting it goes either into the fridge, or into your wort. Letting it sit out for 3 days is not a good idea. Here is the video referenced above, it has some good information

    Probably just means that it krausen's like a mofo. Letting it blow-off would not hurt it any more than it would any other strain.

    Variety is the spice of life my friend. I like dry yeast as well as the next guy, but I also like to change things up a bit. When you go to the store to buy beer, do you always buy the same brand?
