My Technique: As Simple as Possible

About the same time here, except the no boil kits. I can get done from start to finish in about an hour.

My Technique: As Simple as Possible

I've been brewing for a while now. I started off being total anal about cleaning. Then read a post on here about a brewer who was just really clean about things and didn't go to all those mass efforts to sanitize. I tried that method, and never looked back. I'm an extract brewer and keg. I...

    Coopers kits

I ordered the "extra" pack from AHS with the Coopers kit. That was about 6 weeks ago. Haven't tried it, it's on deck. But, it smelled and looked good when I racked it. I mean, nothing out of the ordinary from doing full extracts, partials or even late additions. It was a bit darker than...

    Coopers kits

Going to try one of these. Someone school me. If I'm going to make 5 gallons, do I need to add DME still? Do I need to boil this stuff like we do with say a Brewers Best kit? I'm not a hop head and these being pre-hopped, I shouldn't have to add more hops, correct? Sorry for the ignorance...

    New CO2 regulations to come

In my business, it's only a matter of time. The writing is on the wall. "They" know that if there is any sort of loophole, it will be exposed. Just like the tobacco tax hike last year. Roll your own "cigarette" tobacco tax went up 2200 percent. So, the industry changed the labeling to "pipe...

    New CO2 regulations to come

Well, the government has decided that CO2 is now a poisonous gas. Guess what? This stuff will soon be regulated and you'll have to have a license to buy it and transport it. Transportation should fall under the consumer commodity rule, but you have to buy it first. Unless you got a...

    Yes you can.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Made mine on 5/1 and now it's pretty clear. Planning to rack into a keg and let sit some more and use the primary to start a new batch. You think two months, drink on 7/1 would be sufficient? Be cool to have this stuff ready to go by July 4th.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Boy, this is a really interesting topic. Been reading and have a question. Made a batch on 5/1. Starting to clear now and will probably rack to keg here in another month. My question, after I rack off of the yeast cake, can I reuse the cake and just dump in more apple juice and sugar, shake...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Thanks, I had originally planned to let sit for 8 weeks in primary, but got to reading and thinking about autolysis and raised some concerns with me. Sit it shall....

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Need some clarification on racking. I got a apple wein going for 15 days now. Fermentation is finished and I used a pack of Muntons Gold yeast. When, or do I even have to, rack the wein from the primary? My brews would normally sit for about two or three weeks before I rack into the keg. My...

    Alcohol content by state

The Oklahoma law is you can't purchase beer from 0200 to 0600. They do sell brews higher than 3.2% but it is at the liquor stores and is non-refrigerated.
