Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Whew. Sounds like a pretty crazy awesome system. Pics?

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Speak for yourself... I want my brewery to have the ability to take over the world. haha. Hmm... I was looking for a brewery name... maybe it should be skynet brewery. Haha Got my arduino yesterday, going to start messing with it as soon as I figure out the new brewstand.

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Could you give an example of a more advanced system we could piece together? I'm not sure about the reliability issues with arduinos (never used them) but I enjoy programming and don't get to do it with my job. Plus, I only brew once a month, so there's a lot of downtime where I could be...

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Yeah, that's why I'm looking to try it out. What are you using for your project, if you dont mind me asking?

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Ha, I didn't mean it like that. I meant the setup of it. The uberfridge page linked from that other thread made it seem easy. I definitely want a web interface. I want to be able to check the status from my couch like I can do now with the BCS system.

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Yeah, that uberfridge post looks like a great resource, I'll have to check it out. The biggest thing I was worried about was the web interface stuff. This will also be nice experimentation for me with arduino because I plan on making a kegbot as well.

Arduino instead of BCS or Brewtroller

Anyone have any projects going on using an arduino board to control their brewery? I currently use a BCS-460 but a) want to mess with arduino and b) want more control/need more outputs. My goal: -Control 4 solenoid valves (up to a total of 7 later) -Control 3 heating elements -Control 1...

    Corny Keg Fermentation Upside Down?

Thanks for the responses. I think what I'm going to end up doing is what I eluded to at the end of my first post... Have two sets of dip tubes. They're probably cheap anyways. The end goal is to be able to pressure transfer. Thanks

    Corny Keg Fermentation Upside Down?

I generally ferment in kegs and thought of a concept that I wanted to run by the group. Normally I ferment with them upright and use a siphon to transfer. I don't use the built in pipes because of the sediment in the bottom and I don't want it to clog up. What if you fermented with the...

    Wort filter in-line?

Sorry, didn't see yours... I actually don't have a MT. I've got a single vessel setup where I use a SS mesh basket to hold the grain (when I do partials). I will probably just be more careful by bagging more things.

    Wort filter in-line?

I was looking for inline because there isn't a lot of room at the bottom of the kettle. There's a temp sensor immediately above the drain hole (~1 inch above) and the heating elements are also nearby. I may just need to be more careful with the ingredients and have them all in mesh filtered...

    Wort filter in-line?

Either really. Normally when I transfer to the fermenter I run the wort through a mesh, but that has already passed through at least one solenoid valve and the pump. I'm trying to get stuff before those. Same would apply to the MLT.

    Wort filter in-line?

Does anyone have any suggestions for an in-line filter? My solenoid valves and pump get clogged from time to time, which I'd like to avoid. It'd be nice if it were somehow replaceable while brewing, but I'm having a hard time seeing how that would be done.

    Help troubleshoot my setup...

The Setup: Electric kettle with hole in the bottom. 90 degree bend pipe leads to a solenoid valve and then tubing goes from it to the march pump. The march pump is about 1 foot below the bottom of the kettle. From the march pump tubing goes to a "T" intersection with a solenoid valve on each...

Single Vessel Electric Build: 1.5 to 5 gallon batches

Update: Ordered a bunch of parts for a new control panel. It will be similar to a combination of http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ and this post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/electric-question-153310. Same enclosure and stuff as the electric brewery's, but I will be integrating my...
