It's official starting my own brewing business!

Congratulations guy...I love the business plan...unless your leasing the land you can't really fail in this venture. No business is a guarantee but worse case scenario is you have more beer to drink with your friends, a bar to drink it in, and a a sweet 10 gallon system. I really like the 2-3...

    wood for mash paddle

I made a paddle out if 4' long piece of 1X6 Maple. I will try and add a picture but this app keeps crashing on my phone ...not a 100% original idea but I made a barley grain design in the wide part of the paddle.

    Is there an app for...?

Unfortunately I have an Android platform phone and cannot find anything decent but I know for Iphone the most popular app is iBrewmaster app. If you watch Brewing TV, Michael Dawson, one of the hosts uses the app in one of the past few episodes when he has to brew by himself. Not positive it...

    hop plants vs rhizomes

I have now looked at GLHs FB page and I have my companies mixed up...there is a similarly named company in MN that I have bought a lot through and they sell good products however they have their hands into growing everything and thus are not the best available for any one product. GLH appear to...

    hop plants vs rhizomes

Well to be more clear; If you order a rhizome through a hop rhizome distributer you will usually get a rhizome that is 4-6 inches long. The technique on planting them varies from person to person I'm sure. I planted my rhizomes horizontal in a mound. This provides adequate drainage. The hop...

    hop plants vs rhizomes

Sorry to banter too much but if you look on this forum you might find hop growers in Maine that will give you rhizome clippings to start your hops. Remember smaller rhizomes results in a slower start but if you give them a couple years they'll take off. Every year I have to prune my rhizomes...

    hop plants vs rhizomes

Well I have only been growing hops for the past 2+ years but I have been gardening for years. I started hop growing by ordering 5 rhizomes through Freshops. I went with a Zues, Nugget, Cascade, Willmette, and Galena. The Galena did not make it but in my second year I got nearly a pound from each...

    Unripe or frozen

Little late for your frost concerns but I live just west of minneapolis and I harvested last week...crack a flower open and check for yellow sticky hop oil. I've found its better/ easier to pick them before they start to get drier and open up. A pic would be great..I can help you decide.

    Southern California First Time Grower

This is my second year of growing hops but I have been gardening for years. I went with rhizomes from freshops.com...which are available in the Spring. They have done great. Second year and all four have produced about a pound of dry hops this year in MN (williamette, cascade,Zues, nugget). Then...

Is it too late to grow hops in Texas?

High hops out of Colorado sells hop plants thru at least September. I bought a couple. They are doing.g alright but Im not too certain there a good value. Basically I think they use a 3/4 inch rhizome cutting to grow a plant. You can get it in the ground this year but may be no better off than...

    Cross-Breeding hops

I am only in my second year of hop growing, and for that matter I've only been gardening for about 5 years but I have heard that most vegetables and hops included will cross pollinate into a hybrid rather quickly (within a year). This is not a engineered hybrid but rather a more natural one...

    Off Topic: Home Power Generation

I have heard of generators like this before and, I am aware the magnets can be used to generate electricity. I think this program however is a scam. I have to imagine that for the $100 price tag to build one of these things with "common items" from a "hardware store" is quite unlikely. I would...
