    About a week later after I added EC1118. No observable fermentation, no change in gravity. I'm pronouncing it dead and dumping. :(

    Update: sodium benzoate is used as a preservative. Would that be an issue? I check the gravity yesterday. Starting gravity was 1.072. Gravity now reads 1.075. So I don't know what the hell is going on. The original Nottingham packet is gone. The second packet reads yeast lot #: 1080486V exp...

    My airlock should be working, my last wine was a rolling bubble for a few days. I'll take a gravity reading tonight before I dump the batch. I was expecting visual fermenting action like wine/beer batches in the past.

    Looking back at this earlier, I may not have been clear about my questions. I'd like to know if the wine is SAFE to drink? The added spoonfuls of metabisulphate to water with the corks has me worried there may be too high of levels of the meta to be safe to drink?

    Made my first batch a month ago, a Winexpert Pinot Grigio Kit. Followed all directions to a T. Except when bottling. I wasn't patient enough with the corks. I couldn't cork my bottles with dry corks, so I saw somewhere I should throw them in a bowl of warm water( medium size mixing bowl)...

    Is there anyway you can make the bagpipes bigger? For some reason it kind of looks like she's smoking a hookah to me. The crests kind of look like puffs of smoke. But I could just be looking at it in the wrong way and not reading the name on the label. :D

    Well i don't have any supplies yet. I'm just trying to plan ahead. I guess it would be cheaper in the long run to go ahead and go with the 5 gallon recipe.
