Finally got my hands on some Ghostfish

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I'm in Texas and hadn't heard of Ghostfish until you posted this. Unfortunately it's illegal to ship direct to consumer in TX, so I just emailed my local grocery store to see if it's legal for them to get their hands on some. Fingers crossed!

    American IPA All Amarillo IPA

Just brewed this tonight. Accidentally put 1oz of Amarillo in only 15 minutes into the boil instead of 45 minutes. Oh well, I'm sure this will be fine. I'll post an update when it comes out of the fermenter in a few months.

    Vanilla Caramel Milk Ale

What are the actual recipe differences? I only see a single recipe in the other thread.

    Vanilla Caramel Milk Ale

I got the recipe from the original thread, and I didn't notice a version 1 and a version 2 - just saw the one version. What's the difference between the two recipes? Just curious which "version" I made :)

What do you folks want in a label?

Neck would be fine, and possibly less work. If you're going to offer all three sections (neck/body/cap) on a sheet, make sure to offer just a sheet of neck sections if that's all the brewer wants to add. - Easy to remove - Easy to apply - Precut - Inexpensive - Waterproof doesn't matter...

    Sanitizing question

On brew day I fill up my primary with sanitizer and sanitize my equipment in there. When I'm ready to pour the wort in, I take the stuff out, lay it on paper towel and place paper towel on top of it. So, things like the hydrometer are laying out for about 30 minutes before I use it. I've...

    Vanilla Caramel Milk Ale

I actually just brewed this over the weekend. All I had in the house was 2 oz. of vanilla, so that's what I used. Not sure how much I'll end up putting in when I bottle. My modification to the recipe was accidental - I dumped in a full ounce of Saaz hops at 20 minutes instead of just the...

    First Crack at Labels

They look good. Personal preference - I don't like how that yellow looks with red. Have any other color choices?

How long before a starter becomes worthless?

Well, I brewed last night - about 50 hours after the starter was made. I was worried about the yeast because I couldn't for the life of me remember cooling the starter wort before pitching the yeast. Based on that lack of memory and the thick yeast cake on the bottom of the gallon jug, I...

In the bottle for one week.

Yeah, go ahead and drink one and report out on how it tastes compared to the last time. I'm bottling tomorrow and I'm so excited to crack open my first one the following weekend. For now, I'll have to live vicariously through you!

    Bottle temp. vs. secondary temp.

His beer is actually colder than ambient, so in the bottle its going to expand. As long as you uses the appropriate amount of priming sugar and don't fill to the top, you should be fine.

    Bottle temp. vs. secondary temp.

Just go take your beer out of the chiller right now. Then, go set up your bottling and sanitize everything. By the time you're ready to start capping, the beer should be getting close to the 82°. I don't know what the thermal expansion of beer is, but with just a few degrees different...

    1st label

Thats a whole lot of black ink to be printed. Have you thought about inverting it? Save some money on ink, and the label won't be as likely to distort with all that wet black ink on there. edit - spelling

    Fermenting without a secondary

So what's the "good argument" against a secondary?
