Brewer's Best kits - Any thoughts?

I've used 3 or 4 BB kits with great results. The Steam Beer, Red Ale, and Irish Stout were very good. Was not crazy about the Mexican Cervesa kit, though it did taste like a Negro Modelo sort of.

    Keggle price?

I'm thinking of going AG and have been pricing equipment. What's a fair price for a keggle? I noticed 15 gallon stainless steel pots with spigot are around $220. They are more if they have a thermometer built-in, but that 's not so important to me.

    metal bottles

Has anyone tried using the new aluminum bottles that Budweiser makes to store their beer? They are vacuum sealed 16 ounces and stored at 22 degrees. I noticed the cap has more rubber than a standard cap, but wasn't sure if they would work or not.

    Pumpkin Brewing (Literally)

A friend sent me this link of a guy who brewed beer in a pumpkin. It's really cool. Here is the link http://www.flickr.com/photos/cog_nate/sets/72157602400060222 If it wasn't worth seeing, I wouldn't post it.

Anyone else here keep an aquarium?

It seems to me the cichlids don't get along very well. They are an aggressive species. I've opted over the years for Silver Dollars and other types of Tetras, instead. A couple of algae-eating type fish like plecostomos help keep things clean. Peace, love and harmony in the tank. No nipping...

    Storing Yeast

My HBS tried to convince me not to try and save yeast, unless I'm directly pitching onto a cake. They view it as a potential wasted batch with little action or possible risk of off flavors or contamination, I think. I did the yeast washing and bought the glycerin and test tubes and all that...

    Harvesting yeast

I have had success with pitching wort onto old yeast cake in primary. I have washed yeast and saved it and felt that it wasn't worth all the TROUBLE!

    Straining Hop Pellets

With a primary and secondary ferment, I do not see the need for a screen or filter. I throw what trub I can away and the rest settles out in the secondary carboy.

    Looking for Mexican Beer Recipe

I did a Brewer's Best Mexican Cerveza XX style beer kit recently. I was not terribly impressed with the final result. The color was more of a darker, Modelo. The taste was unremarkable, very low IBU's. It's probably the worst beer I've made in 8 attempts as far as taste goes. It just...

    sterilize water?

How many people doing extract and or extract plus grain brewing kits with two gallons of water add sterilized water to their two gallon concoction at the end of the boil? In a perfect world I can see why using sterile water makes sense, but do most folk actually take the time to boil the water...

    Guitar Lessons?

If you already know the basics of playing, I'd recommend sheetmusicplus.com and tablature. It seems a lot of lessons devolve into tablature instruction anyways. It often takes 3-4 lessons to do an entire song, when you could buy the tab for less than ten bucks.
