You should do a 1:1 water/vinegar cleaning run then do a sacrificial alcohol cleaning run. After that it's good to go. The point of this is to strip away any flux, oils and foreign matter that can otherwise contaminate an ethanol run you intend to drink.
An electric element within a pressure cooker would probably work well for canning or sterilization purposes which only heats water (creating pressurized steam). As long as the element remains submerged you should be able to run it using a SSR/POT for variable control for instance. Something like...
Yeah Auber doesn't say what fuse to use, but everywhere online recommends a 0.5A fast blow if you want to use one. Auber sells fuses and housings, but not a 0.5A fast blow fuse. The smallest fuse they appear to sell is 20A. Perhaps Auber has had enough people screw up the basic wiring to the...
I built a controller a while back, but then had a house fire. No one was hurt and it wasn't due to DIY electric. I was able to salvage the controller, but I had to strip it 100% down, clean it up and reassemble it again. It runs a PID for temp control or it can switch over and have variable...
I use a Camco 2963 5500W 240V Ripple Foldback Ultra Low Watt Density element. I've used it in a 55 gal drum before. I run that on a 30A circuit. It's pretty cool to see a 55 gal drum steaming hot.
More heat would be faster. Yes you would need to beef up that circuit for sure. The most I've ever...
