Survey: Whats your brew pot size and do you use all of it.

My plan was to make the Concord into an electric BIAB brew kettle, but we got a new gas range at the same time I ordered the kettle and bag/ratchet pulley. I tried it on the new range and realized I didn’t need to go electric. Brew day is under five hours with that range. Helped that I have a...

    P**SED OFF with Local HBS

I like my Barley Crusher. It was my first new piece of brewing equipment. It took me two batches of extract brewing to get bored and start all grain. Two all grain batches later I had ordered my mill and started buying grain in bulk. For some reason the first time I went up to 10 gal batches I...

I brew stovetop BIAB with a 25 gallon Concord stainless kettle. I put a ball valve on it. I usually do 10 gallon batches, but just did my first 15 gallon 0.06 OG IPA today with full boil volume during mash. Only had a couple inches to top after it all went in for mash. Kettle fits on the big BTU...

    Bells Oberon Clone

I won't argue with that. I couldn't be bothered to harvest yeast from a bottle, especially if there is a good substitute. I just found it odd that people were obsessing over other details without locking in the yeast. I'll give the 1272 a try this Spring.

    Bells Oberon Clone

I didn't take the time to go through all 29 pages of this thread to see if it was mentioned/reinforced, but you will never nail down Oberon without using Bell's yeast. Bell recommends cultivating it from a bottle if you try to clone Oberon. You can spend your whole life dialing in ingredients...

I LOVE waking up to hot strike water. Easy as 1-2-3.

I BIAB in a 10.5 gal turkey fryer on a gas range. I've always had trouble with long waits for mash and boil, even with the kettle on two burners. I used the Allied Bucket Heater as a heat assist for mash water temp and mash-to-boil for the first time tonight. Mash to boil used to take well over...

    Top Cropping Yeast Collection

I just top-cropped a single heaping sanitized ladle's worth from an IPA which had been in primary bucket for four days. I moved dirty krausen out of the way first. I put it in about 2.5 cups of 1.070 wort I paper towel filtered from the trub of the fermenting beer (and recently re-boiled). I...
