Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like I'll need a 5 1/8 shank.
Yeah, I get plenty of condensation in my cooler already. I'm about to order a Eva-dry renewable wireless humidifier. It's small and cheap.
Anyone have issues with the shank/wood collar interface? I'm designing my keezer and it looks like I'll need a really long shank. Is anyone doing anything to protect the wood collar from any condensation that might form around the shank? Thanks as always!

Brewed this over the weekend. It was my first all grain. Used the 10 gallon cooler I made from the directions on this site. Hit my target gravity and everything. I upped the hops just a touch. It smells great (yes, I'm an airlock sniffer). Thanks for all the great recipes, Ed!

I reused the one that came with the cooler, if that's what you are referring to.
Some of the other parts, well, I'm pretty lucky in that I have what can only be described as a fighter jet surplus parts store.
I'll try to take inventory of what all I used and post pictures.
I did mine with 1/2" ball valve and everything but when it came time for the SS mesh, I couldn't find anything the right size. I just used a smaller barbed fitting but left everything else the larger size.
I think most people are doing at least a month primary (I did). You might do at least 4 weeks secondary. I've had mine lagering for about 5 weeks now and it still has a slight alcohol bite...so maybe a month in secondary and a month in the bottle, then chill a few and try. Mine did end up at...
Hmm...hopefully it fades.
Just for my own knowledge, you hit your final gravity? I'm being lazy about taking a gravity ready and it sounds like you and I brewed close to the same batch.
I fermented low, too...about 65, also. I'm actually still fermenting (letting it go a few extra days). I've read that Nottingham does well in that range. How many days did you let it ferment in primary?
I would give everything a good cleaning just to get the "leftovers" from manufacturing off (metal filings, oila, etc). Since you are still before the boil when you use this you don't have to worry too much about sanitation. Doesn't hurt to keep things clean, though.
