    How much should I charge?

Hi brew experts, I am preparing to move across the country and will not be moving my brew kit with me; it was meticulously put together with love over 2 years of home brewing fun...but then I found out for medical reasons I can no longer drink beer...huge bummer. Anyway, I've posted several...

    Starter Trouble

It was "special night" at the homebrew house apparently because I made making a starter look like friggin astrophysics. Long story short, I ended up with too much wort by about 1/3. I just filled the flask up to 1L, dumped the rest and pitched the yeast because it was my second run at it...

    Home Grown Crabapples

A whole tree of them. They'll be ripe next month. I need help with a recipe... Should I do a standard Ale recipe...cut them in half and include them in the mash? Put them in a secondary like a dry hop? Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks!

    Barley Crusher Frustration

What do you have your crusher set at? It comes at .038 - .039. I adjusted mine back to .036 and that's when I ran into the problem.

    Barley Crusher Frustration

Well...after reading these posts, I'm equal parts confused and frustrated... Part of why I bought a BC was because the people on this forum overwhelmingly recommended it. Also, the online reviews were good, as were reviews on several other homebrew sites. This wasn't a DISCOUNT mill...I...

    Barley Crusher Frustration

I'm hoping somebody can offer some insight... I got a Barley Crusher a month ago in preparation for my 1st AG batch. It came set at .038, I double checked the measurement, and I rolled with it. My efficiency came out low, so after reading some posts and some blogs, I decided a factor may have...

    This One was an Adventure...

Second all-grain batch today...and it tested my mettle as a new home brewer...and a VERY new AG brewer. Newcastle Brown Ale Clone. Grain Bill: 6 oz English Crystal Malt 8.5 LB Pale Ale Malt 1.5 LB Flaked Maize 3 oz Chocolate Malt Total: 10.56 LB First issue: I use a Barley Crusher. My...

Fermenting Issue! Help! (Time is of the essence)

Yeah...I don't see any way it could have gotten that hot. Even with the ambient heat increase due to fermenting...but we'll have to see. The nerves of my first AG batch got to me. Another lesson to add to the "learned" column. Thanks for your reply!

Fermenting Issue! Help! (Time is of the essence)

4-digit number is 1010. It was Wyeast American Wheat No need from a starter came from the yeast package: beers under 1.06 should be good to go w/out one. I've also read that on various sites (and frankly...on my first AG batch I really didn't want to fiddle with a starter...I wanted to...

It is indeed on the basement floor. I'll try a towel. Thanks!

Fermenting Issue! Help! (Time is of the essence)

Hi. Thanks for your response! I used a Wyeast Smackpack. 100b, dated March 17th. No starter as it recommended not to based on my SG. I think from now on I'll use a Whitelabs bike with a starter 100% of the time.
