    35k vs 100k burner problem?

I bought one of these cheap from someone bailing out of brewing. http://www.agrisupply.com/carolina-cooker-banjo-burner-and-stand-100000-btus/p/64482/ Previously I had a much taller 35K burner. I have a new problem. I put it on my deck and fired it up under 7 gallons to see how fast it...

    Adding onto Wort Chiller

Rather than adding to the length of the one you have, consider adding another length and a tee to have them both flow independently.

    Recirc. Immersion Chiller

oh, I dont measure temps either, when it feels cool I recirculate. I only measured it when testing the different methods. Good call on collecting the hot water for mixing with oxy. I didnt think of that!

    Recirc. Immersion Chiller

If I run tap first it takes more than 3x the water volume to bring the temp coming out of the IC down to temp coming out of the tap than it does to run ice water though it till it gets well below that. Its cool to drink after about 5 gallons of fresh icewater then I recirculate. 40lbs of ice...

    Recirc. Immersion Chiller

I fill a 48 qt cooler with 40lbs of ice at one of those bulk ice kiosk places. Just before I shut off the heat I fill it with water from the tap. I pump that icewater through my IC and let the water drain away while filling the cooler with more tap water till the flow from the IC is cool to...

    DIY Wort Chiller

Mine is a 3/8 tube chiller and I run the simple clear plastic tubing on both in and out with NO issues from the temp. Its not that hot and not for long either. Plain old garden hose is all you need running in and for running out of the chiller...I say plain old garden hose again. The basic...

There is also one company that makes it with the ball lock fittings and all but the point of DIY beyond the pleasure of DIY itself it that you can do it for a good deal less $$$...which can be used for more beer :)

    DIY Filter with videos

The only one either had on their websites or locally here in Austin were 3/4 inch or larger and finding one with a clear can was unsuccessful. Ebay was far and away the best price. You will have a very tough time finding the wound filters at 5 or 1 micron and especially for internet pricing...

    DIY Filter with videos

its just a plain old water filter housing. Got the idea from another thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/diy-2-stage-single-pass-beer-clarity-filter-cheap-261897/ . Lots of sources via ebay and the like....that other thread has a good one or two. Watch out for the port size...you...

    DIY Filter with videos

I really dont pay attention to pressure per say. I transfer between 15 and 20 PSI. I should point out that I primary, then secondary, then filter to serving. There is not a ton of crud to filter. Worst is on those occasions where I dry hop in secondary but even then I dont recall any issues...

    DIY Filter with videos

Just take it apart and flush with water...pretty simple really. That filter I just used I will back flush and rinse till it does not smell of beer. I use it about 3 to 5 times. The 1 and 5 micron ones I just toss.

    DIY Filter with videos

This is a 30 micron filter so its just to pull out any trub and the bulky yeast. I am out of the 1 micron filters so I cannot show the good scrubbing it does. I will try to remember to do that next time.

    DIY Filter with videos

There are a few threads like this floating around but I took some video of my filter in use to visually address some of the concerns folks have about using these. The concerns I hear most often are sanitization, oxidation and waste. Hopefully these videos will aleve those concerns on all...

Bump...I just did the all-grain version from AHS this weekend. Curious how that extract matured?
