Brewtroller Brewery.. upgrade to new BT, or something else?

I certainly have an opinion as well.. but its distinctly biased! I'd be happy to answer any questions you have, but I don't want to be pushy! I will note that there is some neat stuff coming down the pipe for firmware and accessory software and interfaces.

    Using a generator

It was the harbor freight 8750 watt peek, It think its like 7000 constant. More than enough to run a single 5500 watt element and the small load from the control panel. And no doubt it would be cheaper and better in the long run to run power (its what I have). But Gennys are nice for mobile...

    Using a generator

I've run my rig on a predator generator a couple of times for things like Big Brew Day or club events. It worked just fine! I will say my predator didn't last and finally started blowing oil out the exhaust. I haven't replaced it because we got a whole-house standby generator. But I do I...

New To Electric Brewing - Controller Recommendation?

IMHO (and yes, I'm biased) you can't beat the price of the BrewTroller Can easily control your rig, provide as much or as little automation as you could possibly want, and even can handle volume measurement. Control onboard or with a web interface. I'd love to help you if you have questions

HELP!! SSR smoked in middle of boil. Overide options?

Your only real option would be to connect both load sides together. There is no way to force the SSR open. If you have a spare SSR around, you could swap it real quick.

I believe you are probably very correct... but they are adamant that I'm wrong HAHA... I'm sure its a language barrier thing

Not all liquid in the brewing process is sugar water

yea, but that defeats the awesomeness of the twist lock. I'm wondering if a gasket could be made that would slip tight over the prongs and give a sealing surface.

Just a note, did some water testing this weekend with the twist lock elements.... Not good. The vendor claims a IP67 water rating, but I can clearly see a gap between the plug and element, and running water over it quite a bit gets to the prongs... not water tight at all. DOH!

I'm actually testing both the 5500 watt and the 1500 watt versions of that from a supplier. If they test right, I'm going to start carying them at BrewTroller as an option for guys. They seem pretty slick and are rated waterproof at the twist lock.
