I just picked one of these up off craigslist. After removing the front plastic I'm able to fit a 5-gallon better bottle for lagering. I'm looking forward to seeing your kegerator build!

I (and all of my friends) have contacted our reps. This looks like it should pass easily but I'm keeping my fingers crossed just in case.

I completely agree that 2 pots may be overkill for a 5-gallon batch, but I don't have the space/means to do full boils or go all-grain, and wouldn't mind a little extra work if it mean better brews. Thanks for pointing out that sugar is needed for hop utilization, I'll look into that some more.

Nice! This is a great town for brewing, no doubt. I've only been to FHSteinbarts b/c it's about 8 blocks from my house. I like them; the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and their stock is pretty good and with average prices.

I have noticed a similar phenomenon, although my problem is more of a gaseous nature. Small price to pay, but definitely noticeable. Hopefully SWMBO won't make the connection, and I can keep blaming it on the dog.

This my favorite thing about HBT: Whenever I'm feeling uneasy about a certain aspect of my beer I come here, read the hundreds of threads addressing the problem, and the answer is almost always RDWHAHB. Never fails to reassure.
