Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

I have two refractometers. One in Brix, and the other in SG.

Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

Fresh yeast strains that I have experience with. I always rehydrate. I think I may not have enough O2 in the wort after transferring.

Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

Having given it some thought, it's essentially the last 3-4 batches (which were all done on the Anvil), so I'm leaning more towards a stuck fermentation. My immediate response will be to rouse the yeast, and add some energizer, when I get some. Going forward, I think I'll change my process. I'm...

Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

OG is usually within a point or two, and I've not changed anything regarding my fermentation process. Yeast nutrient in the wort, and good temperature control.

Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

Yes, I am recirculating, and stirring. But I'm only lightly stirring the top of the mash. Maybe I should be more aggressive.

Anvil Foundry 6.5 - High FG

So I got myself an Anvil Foundry 6.5, and after four batches, I'm still getting high finishing gravity. My typical mash temp is in the 150F range, and with the exception of the last batch, I typically don't do a mashout. Next batch I intend to do a comparison of the temperature probe vs an...

    Grainfather connect

Is there any reason why the Grainfather Connect controller couldn't be used on a non-Grainfather unit? Currently, the only thing I need to convert to electric, is an element and a controller. If l look at the bottom of the controller, it is hard wired for power, and a temperature probe. There...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

Somehow I managed to make it work with Ubidots. Thanks for the suggestions.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

It appears that the builder of my iSpindel installed the D1 mini flush to the board, so I can't access the USB port. I'm going to do some surgery on a USB cord to see if I can get a connection. The alternative is to remove the D1 mini, and reinstall it on a slight angle to expose more of the USB...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I'm not seeing the MAC address when I check for connected devices.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I've just started working with my iSpindle today, and can't seem to get it to talk to the web. I can see the portal in configuration mode. I have tried to connect it to ubidots and to brewspy to no avail. I know the tokens have been typed in correctly, and all the boxes filled in per the...

    First yeast harvest

So, I brewed an English Sparkling Ale about 10 days ago using Arset Kveik, and harvested the slurry. To my eye, the trub and the yeast appear the same colour, so I don't have that nice pale portion so many examples show. I intend to do an IPA this week, and I'm wondering if I just pitch say...

Pails vs Carboys and 1 vs 2 stage

I've been brewing for a while now, and I have always used a plastic pail for primary fermentation, and glass carboys for secondary. Lately I've noticed that as I drive around the net, many brewers go straight to glass, and don't rack to secondary. What's the prevailing opinion?

    Brain transplant

For anyone who's well versed in the Robobrew, is it possible to give this device a brain transplant? I'm thinking that an RPi would be a logical choice.

BrewPi@ESP8266, no need of RPI and Arduino.

I just went to aliexpress and priced out the parts I have yet to order. I'll save about $40 if I'm inclined to wait. At that price, I think I might be. I've updated the list if anyone's interested.
