    Yea, temps are gnarly here in AZ, even in my house. I'm going to build a makeshift swamp cooler on my next batch. As far as cleaning goes, I use a light dish washing detergent and sanitize with Iodophor.

    The water I am using is sealed gallon drinking water from the store and/or RO water. I figured Id rather be safe than sorry and spend the couple bucks to get good water rather than tap.

    So as an update, my last batch still had that weird taste. After further review, the area I have been using (and the area my wife lets me keep my beer stuff inside) had an ambient temp of 82-85! That said, I believe my ferment temp is my #1 culprit... I'm going to take the brew to the local HBS...

    Yea, I was afraid of that. It looks like they are aluminum, which makes me think that they would be just as fragile as brake lines....they would kink or break super easily.

    Hey guys, my inlaws just gave me their old mini freezer and I would like to make it a small keggerator. Upon looking through it, it looks like there are coils at the base of each shelf....defeating the purpose of removing shelves to put a keg in. Any experience bending or relocating said coils...

    I would have to say the flavor is somewhat of an astringent taste meets metal....which that link you just provided me explains what I'm doing wrong. My siphon was just replaced not to long ago which I think is where I get my oxygen issues. As a side note, I have a hard time controlling ferment...
