Immersion Chiller -- Stainless or Copper

I wouldn't buy an immersion chiller; I'd buy a counter-flow chiller. Fast! And it doesn't clog. You can get 'em in copper or stainless. Both work well, but stainless is a bit better if you want to go down the CIP route.

I forgot to aerate my wort!

OK, that's good to know. I clearly need to learn more about yeast! BTW, I have a 10gallon batch (thus the reason for making a starter in the first place) Yep, good advice. Will do. Cheers.

I forgot to aerate my wort!

Yep, it got a bit of a splash going into the fermenter. I also just read that when US-05 is hydrated and then used to make starter on a stir plate (which is what I do), you don't have to worry about aerating the wort. That doesn't sound quite right to me, but I'll just wait and see this time...

I forgot to aerate my wort!

I pitched my yeast ~24 hours ago (no bubbles yet) and just now realized that I forgot to aerate the wort before pitching. Would I ruin it if I aerated it now? thanks for help!

    dry hopping under pressure

Hi acidrain, thanks for that. I was working under the impression that people were dry hopping in the primary (which is what I do currently). But it makes sense to rack to a clean and purged secondary with your dry hops already in there. Because you say you de-pressurize and pull the hops, I...

    dry hopping under pressure

I presently use a 50L sanke as my fermenter, but not under pressure. I'm slowly getting the gear together to ferment under pressure and have been reading up on the process. While I think I've got the process pretty well worked out from start to finish in terms of ramping temps and pressures...

    do I have a leak?

Yep, I've got the washer in there. I am beginning to suspect that the leak is under the knob of the regulator itself. Is that even possible? Doing further tests now...

    do I have a leak?

Yes, I do have a check valve between the regulator and the kegs. So this prevents the pressure between the regulator and the kegs from dropping, thus no pressure drop in the low-pressure gauge. But I guess this means that I've got a leak somewhere between the cylinder and the regulator. I...

    do I have a leak?

noob to kegging, so maybe this is obvious to most of you. I closed the valve on my gas bottle last night because I began to suspect I had a leak -- though I can't find one anywhere. This morning I noticed that the high-pressure gauge on my regulator (closest to the gas cylinder) was on...

Take the guessing out of efficiency Part 3

Thanks for this. I will definitely be using this next time I step out of my 1.056 comfort zone.
